Canon is going to release a new compact HD video camera with improved auto focus function - EOS C100 Mark II - from their CINEMA EOS SYSTEM (cinema camera system) series in late December.

The price will be around 550,000 yen. The lens kit, which comes with an EF24-105mm F4 L IS USM lens, is also scheduled to be released for about 620,000 yen in early February.

The EOS C100 Mark II features an effective 8.29MP super 35 mm-equivalent CMOS sensor, and an image processor DIGIC DV 4 was added for the first time in all the CINEMA EOS SYSTEM cameras.

In addition, the newly-added Dual Pixel CMOS AF brings fast and smooth focusing to the EOS C100 Mark II. When it has an EF lens attached, you can use the Continuous AF function that automatically remains focused on an object that is in the center of the frame. Also, when it has the STM lens attached, it can activate a face-detecting auto focus function, which could be useful for shooting interviews.

The EOS C100 Mark II supports AVCHD (Max. 28Mbps), AP4 (Max.35Mbps) and 59.94p/50.00p.

The vari-angel monitor is a 3.5-inch OEL display (1.23M dot) and the EOS C100 Mark II is able to record simultaneously with both an SDHC card and SDXC card.
