Finally, Taiwan gettin' some balls. These islands actually belong the Taiwanese, not the Chinese.

@Sir_Edgar: Taiwan has to trade with China, she has to make clear where is her stance over the Diayoutai disputes!
If taiwan siding with Japan like those days DPP running the island, the consequences could lead to lost of multi billion trading surplus with China! Taiwan president Mr Ma YinJeo is a smart guy and he understood this!

Poor old Taiwan...

"And YES, we ARE a real country, OKAY?!"

"And YES, we ARE a real country, OKAY?!"
A real country that abandoned Taiwan after the war ended. Those are some fighting words Hikozaemon.
You don't think they want to be a "real" country? Being a dick is uncalled for.

Shows to me a good deed never goes unpunished. Let them join their mainland brothers and sisters and let the civil war end once and for all. They can show their thanks to the USA as well for their support. They can give the communist access to all of the weapons they bought. Turn you back on the people who supported you, it shows your true nature.

Tokiyo, besides the fact that now only about 10 countries recognize ROC, and all recognize ROC not as Taiwan, but as the government of ALL China, the Taiwanese people had a clear choice in the last election: Vote DPP and pursue the path of seeking recognition as a sovereign entity that coexists separately to PRC as the nation of Taiwan, or vote KMT to go back to the old line of maintaining a single China under disputed leadership.
The KMT is a mainlander party, that still sees Taiwan's destiny as reunification, not independence. And the majority of Taiwanese chose the pro-one-nation KMT over the pro-independence DPP.
So, in spite of Taiwan having a defined territory, economy, currency, armed forces, flag, independent history, culture and all the things any country needs as criteria for being recognized as a sovereign state, the people of Taiwan have chosen to not assert independent sovereignty.
Which means indeed, Taiwan is NOT a real country - by its own choice. It is a quasi-country that itself still claims constitutionally and politically to be a part of greater China.
So Taiwan has no real standing to be saying anything in this dispute on a nation to nation basis - not that I wouldn't be the first to stand up and support Taiwanese independence if the Taiwanese people choose to go that route again.
Peace

How many of you think the US will send troops to join the fight once the bullets start flying ?
Most likely it'll be talk and talk over and over at the UN Security Council . With China as one of the permanent members , what do you think the result may be ?
So at least Taiwan gets it right this time................ Japan 'furtively occupying' disputed islands
