Opposition Your Party disbands

The small opposition Your Party officially disbanded on Thursday one day after leader Keiichiro Asao said the party's rank-and-file members could no longer agree to his plan to merge with the main opposition Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) to contest next month's Lower House election.

Your Party was founded five years ago by Yoshimi Watanabe, who resigned in April after admitting that he received two loans totaling about 800 million yen from cosmetics company DHC Corp before elections in 2010 and 2012.

The party currently has 22 lawmakers in the Diet. On Thursday, two of them -- Koichi Yamauchi and Katsuhito Nakajima -- signaled their intention to join the DPJ.

Awful name for a party. Sounds like some kind of bad joke. "Who did you vote for? Your Party."

It's Your Party, and they'll cry if they want to.
