Yeah. Why force light travelers to pay for heavy travelers' luggage?

. If airlines would enforce their carry on luggage size and weight, then there would be no additional charge for excess weight for the carry on luggage in this case.
When i flew from Belfast to London to Tokyo/Osaka (i have been to Japan twice) and back i made sure my carry on was within the size and weight.
Others on the flights, especially London to/from Japan section had carry on bags that were two or more times the size allowed.
Some of the bags were as big as my bag in the hold.
Excess carry on weight bags could be/are a hazard in the event of a crash.

It has not been a problem in the past. It's more about making additional revenue for the Airlines. Most airlines have already has reduced the size of the carry on luggage, so if you need more luggage space, you have to pay. Airlines are already are maxed out with the seat capacity, so they are looking at other ways to increase revenue.

I can never understand why people have the urge to take all their possessions with them when going on a holiday. Hand luggage monsters are the worse, they have so much they take up all the room in the overhead bins or squash your one, small bag.

Carry on luggage should be banned. Then watch people demand the fees come down.
