The sad thing to me, having been there in the past two years, is that Paris sucked, for line-ups, rude taxi drivers, and a plethora of other social ills. Not to construe from that comment I condone what those jerks did, just that it's off the bucket list and never should have been thereon. Thumbs me down all you like, there are dozens of cities more appealing than Paris, when it comes to world travel. Sadly, I'm of French origin. Makes for a warring soul when you have to condemn your fellows. C'est dommage.

The lack of tourists makes sense, but if I were planning a trip to Paris, this is DEFINITELY the time I would go. Think about it: the place must be crawling with police and security - this is probably the safest time you could ever visit. Also, with the lack of tourists, hotel prices must be dropping and the long lines at famous attractions must be much shorter.
