seeks Democrats' unity?

I'll put this as simply as possible.

We Dems are unified. Sanders endorsed Hillary. Very strongly. (Cruz did not endorse Trump -- That is what it means to not be unified) The writers of this article obviously believes in the old saying "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." The story they want to tell is "My oh, my. Anything can happen! Stay tuned. Be concerned!" 4 If you watched last night, one thing is very very clear

Team Dem is energized.

Well as long as Bubba is on stage at the DNC we will all know where he is and the under aged girls in Philadelphia will be safe...............at least for the time being.

-15 ( +11 / -26 )

techall good call

-15 ( +10 / -25 )

Yesterday was totally awesome. Conventions are about uniting and energizing the party.* As a long-term Dem, I held a convention party (a rally/fund raiser) at my house. Let me tell you, yesterday's lineup had all of us hoopin' and hollering. Not one, not two, but three top-tier speakers spoke: Warren, Michelle, and Sanders.

For those at the party, for the base, all three hit home-runs. Very enthusiastic. Very emotiional. We could feel the energy vibrating off the screens.

As for me, I think Warren's speech was just OK. I think she works better in a smaller venue. But Sanders and Michelle were totally awesome.

Truth is, if MIchelle Obama wants it, she has a future in elected office.

energize = increase organization ground game, raising money, increase morale

4 ( +19 / -15 )

Totally agree with Black Sabbath

The Democratic Convention has been nothing less than inspiring. Anyone who believes that Democrats are not going into the coming election unified as a party does not understand American politics.

2 ( +17 / -15 )

I still cannot get over how those speakers could say half of those positive Hillary comments with a straight face. Regardless, the biggest takeaway I had from last night was that the Bernie movement is bigger than Bernie.

6 ( +16 / -10 )

Yabits

About unity: most if not all of the Bernie of Bust crowd ain't and have never been Democrats. A Pew poll finds 90% of Sanders’ supporters had shifted to Clinton.

Those 10%? I've met more than a few. Recall, I was an early and passionate Sanders supporter. I canvassed and lobbied and advocated all last summer and fall for Sanders, both within my local Democratic party, and at public events. The vast majority of the Bernie of Bust crowd are male, white, and self-describe as either street activists, or democratic socialists (not social democrats), or non=affiliated. I plop most of them in the Naderite box for convenience.

In short, they are not and have never been members of the Democratic party/

So skrem 'em.

Sanders has led. He joined the party -- our party -- last year. He made his mark. He's batting for the Team.

Bernie is a Democrat. A social Democrat. Just like I am.

7 ( +18 / -11 )

We Dems are unified. Sanders endorsed Hillary. Very strongly. (Cruz did not endorse Trump -- That is what it means to not be unified)

Oh, yeah? So what about Bernie supporters outside and across the country that say, NO WAY to voting for Hillary? Unified? Most definitely not.

The writers of this article obviously believes in the old saying "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." The story they want to tell is "My oh, my. Anything can happen! Stay tuned. Be concerned!" 4 If you watched last night, one thing is very very clear Team Dem is energized.

I think both sides are energized, but for the Dems, they need some energizing, that's why they need so many celebs to get this people out of their seats because for the last few months, Hillary supporters looked like they were going to fall asleep at each rally, so whatever juice they can squeeze out of this lemon, get as much of is as you can.

The Democratic Convention has been nothing less than inspiring. Anyone who believes that Democrats are not going into the coming election unified as a party does not understand American politics.

How so?

Bernie did what he was told to do, that has nothing to do with the voters, which is a different story from what's going on with the delegates inside the Wells Fargo Center. Don't confuse the two.

-12 ( +14 / -26 )

Maybe unity in the convention hall, especially after Hillary ordered all Bernie posters to be confiscated. No surprise there. But around the country, things are not looking better for Hillary. And with this latest article:

Leak Confirms DNC Aimed to Squash Questions Over Clinton Fundraising Scheme Officials privately worked to shut down concerns about distribution of money, Politico reports

http://www.commondreams.org/news/2016/07/26/leak-confirms-dnc-aimed-squash-questions-over-clinton-fundraising-scheme

Things are going to get worse. Seems the MSM is largely ignoring the angst of Bernie supporters. And this will give Jill Stien more money and votes. Hillary wanted to game the system and there is usually a price to pay if you get caught, which she has. The Heat Miser is going to go all Sakurajima on her staff, and expect Bill to be sporting a shiner tonight.

-7 ( +13 / -20 )

Wow! I just read that article. Looks like things will get worse from this point on. This is very bad and really exposes how dishonest the Washington elites are both sides and particularly Hillary and her shenanigans. Vermont just passed up their 26 delegates-so a big No!

-12 ( +12 / -24 )

Hillary Clinton poised for nomination

Still not convinced. Lots of Bernie "die hards" there at convention. Lots Bernie signs and slogans out there.

So why are they going through the motions with some false "roll call"? Debbie W. Shultz and the corrupt elites had already decided (long ago) who the nominee would be.

Sanders announced HRC as the (D) nominee. . . too bad the "die hards" aren't singing along with W. Pharel's 'Happy' tune.

-12 ( +8 / -20 )

Remember, this is the DNC, inside these delegates are trying to show party unity, but outside it's a totally different situation. Bernie supporters are furious and vowed NEVER to vote for Hillary.

Sanders announced HRC as the (D) nominee. . . too bad the "die hards" aren't singing along with W. Phar.'s 'Happy' tune.

ROFL

-11 ( +12 / -23 )

There's nothing more inspiring than the underdog story of a wealthy white woman, aided only by her ex-President husband, her dozens of political contacts, a friendly media, the financial backing of both the arms and banking industries, and the tweaking of a few elections.

0 ( +16 / -16 )

Funny how the DNC speakers are blasting guns. They should be blasting the violent religious ideology pulling the triggers. No accountability. They should've pointed out the senseless shootings of Black-on-Black gun violence in places like Chi, Det & LA.

Law abiding Americans (Obama included) like to go to the shooting range sometimes. Long live 2nd amendment!

-11 ( +6 / -17 )

All roll call finished. Hillary is nominated. Roll call, some States had more Sanders but manoriiity had more Hillary. It was an excellent procedure.

-6 ( +5 / -11 )

Well I'd the DNC accepts a liar, a cheat and an inept candidate. Crazy isn't it? The Haitians are scratching their head also.

On the bright side...it makes the nominee easier to beat.

-5 ( +9 / -14 )

The woman is just dangerous. If she can get away without being accountable for Benghazi and her emails, imagine what she will do once she were to become president, imagine the corruption that would ensue.

-10 ( +11 / -21 )

Cue the D.T. cult followers shouting Benghazi, emails, liar, cheat, race card in 3, 2, 1....

And that's fine. It's actually one of the few times they can give their opinion about Hillary and actually be on topic. It's the DNC after all.

Does anyone else notice the difference in the threads? Notice how Democrats actually talk about our party and our convention and don't rush to the messages board to write, "What about Trump?" to every comment posted.

1 ( +11 / -10 )

A Pew poll finds 90% of Sanders’ supporters had shifted to Clinton.

Is that the one from Dec 2015 to Jun 2016 that didn't ask about any third party choices ? lol

-1 ( +10 / -11 )

Looks like all of those years defending Bill while he treated her like a doormat have finally paid off. I have to admit she found a unique way to use a man to get to the top. Instead of sleeping her way to the top, she got married to a highly successful man and spent decades defending him as he slept with literally dozens of other women while she rose up the Liberal hierarchy. It is an odd form of feminism but who needs dignity and self respect when the ends justify the means.

-10 ( +8 / -18 )

It is an odd form of feminism but who needs dignity and self respect when the ends justify the means.

What else can be expected from the Party of No (as in No Morals)?

-11 ( +8 / -19 )

We just made history again: the first female nominated by a major part for the candidacy of the President of the United States.

E pluribus Unum.

4 ( +13 / -9 )

In Nov we have two choices, Trump or Hillary. Which one?

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

And that's fine. It's actually one of the few times they can give their opinion about Hillary and actually be on topic. It's the DNC after all.

Gotta keep them on their toes.

Does anyone else notice the difference in the threads? Notice how Democrats actually talk about our party and our convention and don't rush to the messages board to write, "What about Trump?" to every comment posted.

What? Conservatives did the same thing and what did liberals do on each thread, talked smack or do I have to copy and paste all the vile comments directed towards conservatives. I get it, you guys don't like conservatives or their policies and we feel the same, but please don't say, you talk about your party and we don't. But I want to know when will liberals address their own accusations of rigging the system to favor Bernie or why the Dems didn't or the MSM cover the Bernie supporters walking out and protesting the nomination? You guys are going to talk about that?

Discidium

-15 ( +4 / -19 )

"That's why they need so many celebs"

Didn't the GOP wheel out some half-forgotten celeb? Scott Bayou or something. Wasn't Clint available to talk or an empty chair this year?

Clint could have appeared with Donald on stage to do a remake of "Every which way but loose".

4 ( +11 / -7 )

Does anyone else notice the difference in the threads? Notice how Democrats actually talk about our party and our convention and don't rush to the messages board to write, "What about Trump?" to every comment posted.

That's rich coming from Super "white trash" lib.

Instead of sleeping her way to the top, she got married to a highly successful man and spent decades defending him as he slept with literally dozens of other women while she rose up the Liberal hierarchy.

Nice, Wolf.Typical of some conservative troglodytes to hold that the only way a woman can succeed is by riding the coattails of a man. In fact, Hillary was brought up in far more advantageous circumstances than Bill; she was the daughter of a moderately successful manufacturer near Chicago, while he was brought up in a poor, broken household in Arkansas. What they shared in common was a high degree of intelligence and drive from an early age that brought them to some of the best schools in the world and then into public service.

Also typical is the right-wing hypocrisy over the Clinton's marriage. Conservative Christians should celebrate the commitment they've shown to their marriage despite their flaws and mistakes; even as a secularist, having been married for 25 years, I find it inspiring. Instead, conservatives bash both with highly derogatory comments such as yours while at the same time supporting a man who has repeatedly abandoned wives when they begin to show their age and is now married to a woman much closer in age to his son than to he.

Congratulations to both Hillary and Bill. It will be nice to move back home to the White House in January.

9 ( +14 / -5 )

This is historic all right. The first candidate to be nominated for president who couldn't pass a background check and should be sentenced to prison.

-12 ( +8 / -20 )

Deception and corruption defines your candidate DNC. Wiki is promising more hacked emails wher deception and corruption are indesputable to even simple minds. Hillary will fall. FBI continues a Clinton Foundation investigation which reportedly donate 11 cents to the dollar to the target charity. Does that 89 cent from every dollar finance the Clinton lifestyle?

Where were US flags last night? And news blasts the lack of them a couple show up today! Are Dems ashamed to show the national colors?

The guest speakers are disproportionately minorities. Pandering? Must be from the party that suppresses minorities with excuses to be victims.

Sanders, not 3 days after the rigged bombshell supports Hillary. Crooked party? Yes sir!

Disgraced Debbie Wasserman Schultz fired one day from the DNC and hired by Hillary the next. Is Hillary surrounding herself with similar persons. Liars and cheats!

-14 ( +4 / -18 )

Wiki is promising more hacked emails wher deception and corruption are indesputable to even simple minds.

Don't you mean "Putin"? It is one thing for Wikileaks to publish documents provided by whistleblowers (the definition of a leak); it's quite another to publish documents obtained by a foreign espionage service which has illegally hacked servers with the purpose of influencing the outcome of an election.

It's growing increasingly clear why Trump refuses to release his tax returns: They likely indicate deep involvement with Russian financial syndicates.

5 ( +13 / -8 )

Didn't the GOP wheel out some half-forgotten celeb? Scott Bayou or something. Wasn't Clint available to talk >or an empty chair this year? Clint could have appeared with Donald on stage to do a remake of "Every which way but loose".

I think the Dems wish they would have a legend speaking for them, but instead have a bunch of old SNL rejects. LOL

Here is the kicker, the GOP wanted to talk about real issues that are affecting everyday American lives and less about Hollywood feel good moments and tear jerkers to play on peoples emotion, rather than to deal with the facts of what is happening in our world.

Nice, Wolf.Typical of some conservative troglodytes to hold that the only way a woman can succeed is by riding the coattails of a man. @Laguna

When, oh, when will you guys stop with this fictional war on Women, now if you can give me of a list of what accomplishments this woman has done as Secretary of State and as a Senator, I'll shut my mouth and I mean, do you have something of a long list of accolades that gives her the right to lead as president of this nation?

Also typical is the right-wing hypocrisy over the Clinton's marriage. Conservative Christians should celebrate the commitment they've shown to their marriage despite their flaws and mistakes; even as a secularist, having been married for 25 years, I find it inspiring.

What, you mean the affairs that Bill has had. You are kidding yourself if you think the marriage of the Clinton's is not a marriage of convenience.

Instead, conservatives bash both with highly derogatory comments such as yours while at the same time supporting a man who has repeatedly abandoned wives when they begin to show their age and is now married to a woman much closer in age to his son than to he.

And Dems do the same. Do you guys remember last week what was said about Melania?

Congratulations to both Hillary and Bill. It will be nice to move back home to the White House in January.

IF that happens and from the looks of it, they will have a long and tough road ahead.

-16 ( +6 / -22 )

Typical of some conservative troglodytes to hold that the only way a woman can succeed is by riding the coattails of a man.

Pure nonsense. Hillary will forever be known only as the wife of a former U.S. President. Liberals actually believe that such a woman with a documented history of failures (the only democrat to be fired from the Watergate hearings for malfeasance, no track record other than naming a post office while a U.S. Senator, botched foreign policy decisions as SoS) would be catapulted to "winning" a rigged Democratic Party nomination process if she had any other last name than Clinton?

Congratulations to both Hillary and Bill. It will be nice to move back home to the White House in January

A bit too early to pop the champagne cork, eh, wot? What the republican voters did to Jeb Bush, look for the American electorate to do the same to the Clinton's. The last thing we need is a family dynasty in the White House; especially one as corrupt as the Clinton's. . . .

-12 ( +5 / -17 )

It'll never happen! The Clintons will not be permitted to rob the White House again. Trump is no grand prize but he is more genuine than the lying cheating Clintons will ever be.

What's funny in the convention many speakers say in various other words Hillary will fix the nation. At the same time immense praise of the 7.5 years of Obama's great success of a great economy and perfect presidential performance.

-9 ( +7 / -16 )

What the republican voters did to Jeb Bush, look for the American electorate to do the same to the Clinton's.

Another Texas Aggie prediction? Day Two is coming to an end and I'm still waiting on your following forecast on the DNC convention: "Look for a whole lotta rioting, burning, looting and arrests." to hold some water. So far, No rioting. No burning. No looting. A handful of minor citations.

I don't know what alternate universe you're living in, but nearly 70% of the American electorate in 2016 is composed of 1) Women; 2) young voters between 18 and 30; and 3) non-whites. Hardly the types to reject Hillary Clinton for someone like a Donald Trump. (You can quote me on that.)

no track record other than naming a post office while a U.S. Senator

Again, in the real world the convention tonight was graced by many of the 9/11 first responders who attested to Senator Clinton's tireless efforts to get them the health care support they needed.

May all your predictions remain consistent.

9 ( +12 / -3 )

Maybe GOP might select female candidate next time. Don't get scared of women candidates. Not every female politician yell like Warren or Hillary.

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

Texas A&M: (the only democrat to be fired from the Watergate hearings for malfeasance, no track record other than naming a post office while a U.S. Senator, botched foreign policy decisions as SoS) would be catapulted to "winning" a rigged Democratic Party nomination process if she had any other last name than Clinton?

Looks like Mr. Educated read an article and was so proud of himself he came here to tell us all about it. Stick to being a troll. It's a much easier path for you.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

The fact that the first woman becoming the presidential candidate is not being pounded into the news as expected shows just how liberal the US has become, to the point where sex doesn't even really make any difference whatsoever, great news! Either way this election is over, I guess we gotta suffer through another 4 years of Repub corner-moping

6 ( +10 / -4 )

We just made history again: the first female nominated by a major part for the candidacy of the President of the United States.

Dud. It was already pre decided. That is why Debbie W. Shultz suddenly resigned. Wake up.

Barbara Boxer (CA) said: "The Republicans threw everything @Hillary, even the kitchen sink, and she is still standing."

-Again. Fictional reality, the corrupt Democrat elites rigged the primaries SO THAT Hillary would be left standing. Poor Bernie. Feeling the burn from two -faced backstabbers within his party.

Who killed Ceasar? He too was murderered by "honorable men."

-9 ( +5 / -14 )

I don't know what alternate universe you're living in, but nearly 70% of the American electorate in 2016 is composed of 1) Women; 2) young voters between 18 and 30; and 3) non-whites. Hardly the types to reject Hillary Clinton for someone like a Donald Trump. (You can quote me on that.)

Sure and Trump has the White vote, particularly the Blue collar worker, independents and the Veterans. We all know Hillary has a problem with men, just as Trump with women. That doesn't make him worse off or her any better.

Again, in the real world the convention tonight was graced by many of the 9/11 first responders who attested to Senator Clinton's tireless efforts to get them the health care support they needed.

Ok, but what are her accomplishments.

-11 ( +5 / -16 )

. . . the only democrat to be fired from the Watergate hearings for malfeasance"

This is simply not true. This claim has been debunked many times. Here are two examples:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/clintons/zeifman.asp

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2015/04/17/snopes-com-has-been-debunking-clinton-rumors-since-the-clinton-years/

The rest of your accusations are similarly inaccurate and seem to be products of internet rumors and partisan smear campaigns (again, many which have been debunked).

Instead of trying to convince other people that the GOP should win back the White House based on ad hominem tactics, why not focus on the differences between the two parties' platforms and what they stand for? I believe that would be a much better and more productive topic of discussion.

12 ( +15 / -3 )

Things are getting heated outside the convention hall. After Sanders supporters walked out when the roll call was suspended, some of them stormed the media tent and attempted to take laptops away from reporters who were covering the event, leading police to drag the protesters out and arrest them.

So much for the democrats' "spirit of unity". As I called it yesterday, the rioting and looting has begun. . . .

-11 ( +7 / -18 )

Democrats are in total denial, right now. Just take a look at their petulant down votes on really prescient comments here. It's like they collectively put their fingers in their ears (when they're not talking down to their "inferiors") and scream "Nah-nah-can't-hear-you!" whenever they're threatened by, you know...facts? Run for the Safe Spaces, Triggered-people!

Fact: Liberal CNN's latest poll: Trump is WINNING, while 68% of Americans (before DNC Leaks) decided Clinton was "untrustworthy." 68%!

Fact: Liberal pollster Nate Silver has flipped his predictions on Hillary winning the Presidency from 80% three months ago...to 57% TRUMP!

Fact: Hillary immediately hired humiliated Wasserman to be a part of her own campaign, which proves that Clintons ALWAYS overlook malfeasance...as long as a Clinton is supposed to benefit from the deed! Hello, Hillary Nixon!

Fact: DNC leaks PROVE that it's the Democrats who are really bigots ("I love you...no homo."), racists (referring to Mexican strategy as "Taco Bowl Outreach," anyone??) and much, much more. Hypocrites! (Notice how Liberals never actually refer to any of the leaks or their actual content?? Wonder why? LOL!)

Get your safe spaces ready, Democrats!

-11 ( +5 / -16 )

So much for the democrats' "spirit of unity". As I called it yesterday, the rioting and looting has begun. . . .

Yup. What a circus. A lot of stupd things were said tonight: "If you work 40 hrs per week, you should not be living in poverty." - Senator B.Boxers (D) CA.

So if I flip burgers from 9-5, I should be "entitled" to middle class wages?? Have a decent vehicle, nice apartment and plenty of food on my table??

Reminds me of the scene from Eddie Murphy's 'Coming to America" when L. Anderson said, "I started on clean-up too. Then I moved up to french fries and working the grill. Soon I'll be assistant manager. AND that's when the big bucks start rolling in."

-16 ( +3 / -19 )

Slick Willy made Hillary out to be an altruistic angel. Incredible resume if true. But we know two sides of a story are the real truth.

Why was it the Clintons were broke and in debt after 8 years in the White House rent free with chauffeurs? Surely with such great success they would have a tidy stash awaiting.

How have they made so many millions in such a short time since? Were these honest earnings?

Why do they take monies from women opressive nations? If she truely cared about others she would help negotiate with those nations in exchange for fees. After all Hillary is a change maker.

Her honesty eludes most. Is this a change maker trait?

-15 ( +3 / -18 )

Looks like politico is stirring up some trouble for Hillary and her gang of bakers.

FEC filings show that, since the inception of the Hillary Victory Fund, participating state parties have received $7.7 million in transfers, but within a few days of most transfers, almost all of the cash — $6.9 million — was transferred to the DNC. The only date on which most state parties received money from the victory fund and didn’t pass any of it on to the DNC was May 2, the same day that POLITICO published an article exposing the arrangement. But those deposits were token by comparison: each state received $10,000, compared with transfers that were passed on to the DNC as large as $300,000, FEC records show.

Very suspicious behavior. I wonder if Hillary has any black and white striped pantsuits? And DNC employees should stay away from lifting any weights in the near future.

-16 ( +2 / -18 )

Don't you mean "Putin"? It is one thing for Wikileaks to publish documents provided by whistleblowers (the definition of a leak); it's quite another to publish documents obtained by a foreign espionage service which has illegally hacked servers with the purpose of influencing the outcome of an election.

Not to be outdone by Obama's Nobel prize for peace, Hillary is striving for the Nobel prize for fiction.

-14 ( +5 / -19 )

The same establishment that gave you the first Black President is also very eager to give you the first Woman President but just like there was no real change under Obama there will be no real change under Clinton. Neither the Republican Party or the Democratic Party represent the interests of the people who elect them but represent the interest of their Corporate Masters, their Wealthy Donors and the Military-Industrial Complex so the rich will continue to get richer, the middle class will continue to shrink and the poor will increase and get poorer. The Corporations will continue to make their obscene profits and the Military-Industrial Complex will continue to get the conflicts that they want and need. The Republican Party offers a Neo-Fascist Disaster and the Democratic Party offers a Neo-Liberal Disaster so people of America pick your poison.

-11 ( +4 / -15 )

The Republican Party offers a Neo-Fascist Disaster and the Democratic Party offers a Neo-Liberal Disaster so people of America pick your poison.

And for a poster calling himself "japan4life" you're illustrating just how little you are. Don't you know Japan must bend-over and bow down to whichever poison is elected? You ungrateful freeloader!!

-15 ( +2 / -17 )

@demacloed,

Heh, citing:

Snopes? An Internet website with a track record for inaccuracies that's only second to Wikipedia? And,

The Washington Post? "The Capital's Newspaper" that -- according to your very own link -- was too lazy to create its own story and instead relied on what Snopes had posted as gospel. Also, according to the emails leaked over the weekend, the WaPo had hosted DNC fundraisers? Ah, yes, the gold standard of objective journalism. . . .

-13 ( +4 / -17 )

No, it has not. Again, posting rumor and false statements does nothing to prove your point or further your argument.

Looting or not, there are millions of Sanders "die hards" who were cheated in the primaries. The political corruption brewed up by the (D) elites was 10 times lower and worse than active looters. If your a Democrat -put that in ur pipe and smoke it.

-15 ( +2 / -17 )

If your (sic) a Democrat -put that in ur pipe and smoke it.

Well, I'm not, and I don't smoke.

7 ( +10 / -3 )

@Wc626,

Interesting observation. By not conducting an honest primary phase of this election cycle, the DNC stole $27 from each Bernie supporter who donated to his effort to secure the nomination. If Sen. Sanders' claim that 13 million Bernatistas voted for him is true, that means the Sanders' faithful were bilked out of more than $35 million in a campaigned that was rigged from the start. So, the looting prediction turned out to be accurate. . . .

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

Are there any Trump supporter left here?

0 ( +3 / -3 )

By not conducting an honest primary phase of this election cycle, the DNC stole $27 from each Bernie supporter who donated to his effort to secure the nomination.

Let's explain this here. When a person donates money for political purposes, they can choose to donate directly to a candidate or to an affiliated PAC - or to a political party, either for general use or under the umbrella of a particular candidate (the latter rule is due to legal changes brought about by Republican lawmaking). As such, particular candidates can use state party organizations to raise money to use as they see fit. Clinton took advantage of this by setting up the Hillary Victory Fund to raise some $142 million,44 percent of which went to the DNC ($24.4 million) and most of the rest to Hillary for America ($37.6 million). Sanders, never much of a Democratic Party team player, did not.

If you were a Bernie supporter and donated directly to Hillary or to one her affiliated groups, you donated incorrectly. To say that she stole money from Bernie supporters is like saying Pepsi steals from Coke fans every time one of their aficionados mistakenly pushes the wrong button on the vending machine.

Have to give Bill Clinton his props: There is no doubt the guy still has the "it" factor.

That written, he had a Hurculean task tonight of making his spouse come across as a likable person given her astronomically high levels of negatives in the areas of honesty and trustworthiness with American voters.

Did have to laugh when, with a straight face, he said his wife was one who has “never been satisfied with the status quo" and a "change-maker". Apparently, no one told him that compared to Mr. Trump, Mrs. Clinton is this election cycle's status quo candidate, and her idea of change are the ones she made based on the latest opinion poll (U.S. military involvement in Iraq, gay marriage, etc.).

Bill can still tell a great story. In 102 days, we'll all see if America buys what he was trying to sell tonight. . . .

-10 ( +3 / -13 )

Hillary Clinton wins historic nomination

One giant step for women in the US. (The UK is now on their 2nd female PM). But a sad day for the world that it had to be Hillary Clinton.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

Ex-President Bill Clinton proved his credibility of his "love story" of Hillary by the numerous indiscretions and adultery with other women. That's how much he loves Hillary.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Whether a woman can be president is a fabricated issue. I don't know anyone who thinks a woman can't be president. But I know a lot of people who don't want this woman in the job. Character counts, and so does lack of it.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

@Shrapnel, You are 100 percent correct! She basically lacks any sense of honesty or dignity to the highest office in the land.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

@mrjgb. I was waiting for someone to accurately point that out. Notice how he didn't mention how they got rich. And all the dems who were disgusted & disgraced, when he was in office, have done 180. . . . just cause the Mrs has been declared the nominee. Classic.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Bernie's people are no longer Bernie's. They are already moving beyond him. Hillary supporters are dreaming if they think the bern votes are going to get switched to Hillary.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Hillary ! Hillary ! Hillary ! Another BIG crack in that glass ceiling ! Let's blast it into a million pieces in November ! Get used to it guys, Madame President !

I think many will shift to Hillary Outrider. The rest will go third party, stay home and some for Trump. The contributors to Bernies campaign should be very upset donating hard earned money in many cases to a rigged campaign completely unaware of what the Democratic Party was in full control.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Ex-President Bill Clinton proved his credibility of his "love story" of Hillary by the numerous indiscretions and adultery with other women.

What an original comment. The creativity of attacking a spouse for his or her indiscretions over a 40-year relationship is truly unique. Perhaps you have never been married. Perhaps you have been for a lengthy period and have often thought, "There for the grace of God go I" even if an atheist (such as I). Perhaps you have been married, had indiscretions, but have managed to recover your relationship with your spouse. Perhaps you've decided to throw your spouse under the bus (at least a few times, as has done Trump).

In no cases does the onus descend on the wronged. Seriously, is this too difficult for you to understand? Apparently so. There is a deep and broad undercurrent of misogynism underlying irrational Hillary hatred (irrational as, as you'll note by the above comments, zero discuss policy, while many discuss her husband or fashion choices) that simply will not go away. I'll point out here how her husband's past, her clothing choices, her speaking style are irrelevant, and in this and future threads, others will continue to yell about all of these.

If you'd like a continuation of Obama's America, go with Hillary. If you'd like a Trumpian version of Putin's America, go with Trump. But let's stick to the issues.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Yep. The corruption and duplicity is pretty shocking.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

You simply grasping straws linking Trump to Putin Laguna. Bill and his escapades with the ladies is well documented and the high profile encounters. Hillary herself belittled the victims of the bill.

How many mothers of slain black sons were on that stage last night without any representation from police. Treyvon, Micheal Brown both were proven aggressors and we public will respect that behavior? Resisting arrest is awarded! Not in my America!

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

If you'd like a continuation of Obama's America, go with Hillary.

No thanks, No way! 8 years of Obama was worse than 8 minutes of water boarding.

The contributors to Bernies campaign should be very upset donating hard earned money in many cases to a rigged campaign completely unaware of what the Democratic Party was in full control.

Yes, Bernie was treated with resentful disdain and yes the DNC most likely violated its own charter to act as an impartial committee before a single vote was cast. But the basic, indisputable math and reality is that Sanders lost by over 3.5 million popular votes and a couple of emails with suggestions that weren't taken up by the party is not a convoluted conspiracy. If the system were rigged it would have been with caucuses that are easier to manipulate, the ones with lower, party controlled that Sanders oddly enough won convincingly. You don’t even need to really see anything else to understand that Clinton overwhelmingly won mostly because she had the minority vote — especially the African American vote.

Things are getting heated outside the convention hall. After Sanders supporters walked out when the roll call was suspended, some of them stormed the media tent and attempted to take laptops away from reporters who were covering the event, leading police to drag the protesters out and arrest them.

This is what TexasAggie reports without attribution. The conservative Washington Post and Wall Street Journal report it very differently. The Sanders supports staged what is known as a peaceful "sit-in." Not a single person was reported as having a laptop taken from them. Police dragged out no one. No one was arrested. From the WaTimes:

By about 8:30 p.m., the protest largely had fizzled out and most of the demonstrators had exited the press tents.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/jul/26/bernie-sanders-supporters-storm-media-tent-hillary/

Because the sit-in was held IN the media tent, the media was there -- in fact, people from the media outnumbered the protesters -- it was naturally very well covered! Here's a great video of the completely non-violent action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H58ElME6wpA

One marvels at the audacity to falsely report the action as "looting."

Laguna, Sorry for you. I was writing about credibility of ex-President Bill Clinton, not Hillary, in his love story in DNC. In fact I pity her in this area. Love is proven by her deeds not talks.

Laguna, Sorry for you. I was writing about credibility of ex-President Bill Clinton, not Hillary, in his love story in DNC. In fact I pity her in this area. Love is proven by her deeds not talks.

And wouldn't Hillary's continuing to maintain her vows through "better or worse" demonstrate loyalty, faith and love?

I don't excuse adultery, but in our very complex and modern world, it is difficult to expect ONE person to be all things to a partner. I have witnessed right-wingers castigating Hillary for NOT divorcing Bill -- and even calling her an "enabler" of his misdeeds.

It used to be that loyal Americans, when confronted with a president's personal actions that weren't prim and proper, would act to protect the presidency. Not so the Republicans: Americans had to be dragged through every nasty detail of what should have remained private if they had any decency.

When your values are gutter-level, you end up with a candidate from the gutter like a Donald Trump. I'm with Hillary.

Looks like the IRS is starting an investigation into the Clinton Foundation. Yes, that's Bill, Hillary and Chelsea. This one is gonna stick IMO. They've set Africa back decades with their cronyism. Propping up evil dictators for mineral and oil contracts. Heck, Haiti alone should put them behind bars for awhile. Could take a year to complete but finally the spotlight might shine on that dark black hearted evil Clinton foundation.

Looks like the IRS is starting an investigation into the Clinton Foundation. Yes, that's Bill, Hillary and Chelsea. This one is gonna stick IMO.

Keep trying. Maybe the 40th time will be the charm.

Meanwhile, conservatives like George Will are alleging that Russian oligarchs loyal to Putin have been bankrolling Donald Trump for years -- a key reason, they contend, that he's not releasing his tax returns.

As very credible sources now assert that hack attacks on the Democratic Party and US government have been conducted by agents working for Russia, a critical question arises as to how much they are trying to influence the outcome of the American election. Putin has made no secret that he vastly prefers Trump over Clinton.

Release the returns and let's follow the money, just as with the Clinton Foundation.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

OK, so Hillary might get a temporary bump in the polls from her nomination even though Michelle Obama dissed the Bernie supporters when she, incredibly, said Hillary is the only qualified candidate to be president, but some more bad news: Barack's half brother Malik is voting for Trump, and Michael Moore is predicting a Trump victory.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Good luck with that, Fizz. The most recent audit of the Clinton Foundation (by a private group) found in 2013 that 89% of their donations were distributed - slightly exceeding that of the Red Cross (the remainder goes to overhead). Now, the IRS has acknowledged receiving a request from a group of Republican representatives to audit the Foundation and has forwarded the info, but to suggest an audit is in progress is premature - and to suggest illegalities would be discovered is completely unfounded unless you've already decided so regardless of facts because, y'know, Clintons.

I'd be more worried about what's in Trump's tax returns (hello, Putin!).

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Where did the multi millions come from Laguna? Have they made that many speaches? They left the White House in debt according to your wonderfully altruistic candidate. I think she was well paid for a recent commencement speach at a university but doesn't she want free tuition now that Bernie gained steam on it. Free tuition means costs must be saved and others will pay for it. Not Hillary. She makes no sacrifices.

See, your candidate is incredibly flawed. It is obvious all the good words spoken at the DNC are just to create an Illusion. The reality which is what is important is somewhat different.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

The only history made was Hillary being the first totally corrupt politician who was still nominated even though the Democrats know she is corrupt. The Democrat convention is a clown show . The, are not only fractured by Sanders followers their speeches are evidence these people are not even living in America, just some elite created fantasy they wish was real. They actually believe their hard line Marxism will work, they seem to think the great recession, started by Nancy pelosi and turned into a depression by Obama, either didn't happen or they are happy about it. Hillary started 8 Arab spring wars, resulting in a new slave industry and, terrorism spreading everywhere while these Democrats still pretend terrorism isn't happening. Keep it up Democrats, the US is tired from the l and the blatant racism and bigotry the Democrats keep doing to instigate division between people, it's sick. AND the Last decade of Democrat incompetence, failure and misery. Then we get the recent news, Democrats actually proven to have rigged their election and the crimes of using dnc soft money for Hillary and best of all taking bribes as donations for political appointments. The world better hope Hillary loses. Consider the damage she did in north Africa and the middle east, the results being waves of violent insurgents invading Europe, the destabilizing of that area, Russia invading countries and China starting to use it's military to take over islands. She did all of that as secretary of state, she will be a lot worse, as president. Nothing could be less foolish than handing absolute power to the, already totally corrupt Hillary.

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

The worst news is Trump is surging in all the polls. Today's LA Times by 7. I predict a negative bump coming out of Philly for the Dems.

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

Laguna = I'd be more worried about Hillary's 67 or 68% unfavorability rating, her continually unfolding scandals, the fact that the majority of Americans are tired of the corrupt politics that Hillary and Kaine represent, and Michael Moore is predicting a Trump victory.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Laguna, it's not the distribution of donations that's initiating the investigation, it's a charge of "lawlessness" and a "pay to play" corruption. So I've read. As far as illegalities, we'll see, but there is enough evidence out there to question their ethical practices, even though they might have been legal. After all, that's the way it's done. Someone lobbies Bill, Bill does a $200,000. speech and the Hillary bypasses, changes or waives the laws. Granted, they all do it.

As far as Trump, I'm sure he's connected with Russian businesses, Putin, no. Trump could be pulling one of his famous tricks, not releasing the tax returns while letting the opposition whine about it, keeping him in the news. It would be funny if he's doing this and nothing's there. I dunno.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Gee. Looks like all the concern-trolling about Dems in Disarray was...concern trolling.

Notice two things here:

First, never forget that for most so-called journalists, 1) sex sells, and 2) if it bleeds, it leads. That is the nature of their business. And that is why they push conflict and distortion. That is why people, many people, have a distorted view of things.

We Dems were never in Disarray. Sanders and Clinton came together over one month ago. Sanders gave the strongest endorsement I have seen in my lifetime to the person who defeated him in the primary. Sanders even beautifully called for the nomination by acclamation and not role-call. Here, BTEW, acclamation is a form of unanimous consent.

Unanimous consent. Kind of the, oh, I dunnow, the complete and total repudiation of the tired old nonsense of Dems in Disarray.

What a gesture! Make no mistake: We Dems are fired up and ready to go! And I know that is Obama's rally cry. And that is why I use it. We're taking Obama's legacy and carry it forward. More health care, more taxes for the rich, more voter enfranchisement, more and most importantly, because Sanders, more regulation of Wall Street.

Second, about people having a distorted view of things. Isn't it quaint how, despite the obvious reality that Dems are Fired Up and Ready to go, the right wingers are repeating the demonstrably false idea to contrary/

And doesn't that just encapsulate everything about conservatives: Denial ain't just a river in Egypt.

And that is why, as you all know, the Republican party must be destroyed.

http://nypost.com/2016/07/27/clinton-campaigns-move-to-force-trump-super-pac-ad-off-tv/

Hillary Clinton’s campaign is pressuring TV stations across the country to stop airing an anti-Clinton political ad sponsored by the pro-Trump super-PAC Rebuilding America Now.

The campaign claims the ad, titled “Outsourcing,” is “directly contracted by evidence in the public record.”

The ad claims Clinton went to India and talked up outsourcing — and then received a donation from Indian politician Amar Singh of up to $5 million in 2008.

The Clinton campaign contends that the donation was made in a different year.

Some politicians have been stupid enough to personally accept a stack of cash. But the Clinton’s are corruption pros. They know how to put time & space between the payment and the action so a jury would be able find reasonable doubt and a prosecutor won’t touch the case.

Day 3 of the DNC clown show will commence in just a few hours.

Meanwhile, liberals inciting violence on the streets of the city of brotherly love took place overnight.

In one incident, Sen. Sanders supporters clashed with police. They began scaling the 8-foot fences that cordons off a secure zone around the convention arena parking lot. Police and the Secret Service arrested four protesters and charged them with unlawful entry into a restricted area.

Also, another protester set fire to an Israeli flag as people chanted, "long live the intifada."

So as I predicted earlier this week, riots, burnings and looting has forever stained the democrats' self-proclaimed "unity convention" . . . .

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

"Sanders gave the strongest endorsement I have seen in my lifetime to the person who defeated him in the primary"

She and the DNC stole the nomination from him. They rigged it so he could not win. You do know this, right?

The Democrats could have nominated Sanders, who beats Trump by over 10 points in the polls, but they went with Hillary, who couldn't pass a background check, has more baggage than Delta Airlines and actually trails Trump.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

She and the DNC stole the nomination from him. They rigged it so he could not win.

Serrano, can you explain how the DNC "stole" the nomination from Sanders? What was rigged?

Primary elections? No. I could not be primaries, because the DNC does not control primary elections. Each state does. Caucuses? There are fewer caucuses, and the DNC does have more control over them, but Bernie did very well in the states that hold caucuses.

So please explain how Bernie did well at something the DNC has more control over and did poorly in the arenas that the DNC has no control over -- if they're trying to rig something. (While you are at it, perhaps you can explain why Donald Trump invited the Russians to launch a cyber-attack on the United States. You do know he said this, right?)

How low can Republicans go?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Republicans are willing to as low as necessary to lift the nation to the high levels of pride the USA had in the past. The past 7.5 years has sunk USA into a whirlpool of eventual doom. I'll take the high road. The low road is reserved for the progressives. Funny, "progressive" in definition is quite different of the liberal direction for progressivism.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Yabits

How low can Republicans go?

Never, and I mean never, underestimate the depravity of movement conservatives.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

"While you are at it, perhaps you can explain why Donald Trump invited the Russians to launch a cyber-attack on the United States. You do know he said this, right?)"

Oh, good grief, only liberals would twist Trump's comments on Hillary's lawbreaking email incompetence/carelessness into an invitation to launch cyber attacks on the U.S.

Remember Reagan's "Bombing ( of Russia ) begins in 5 minutes"?

Hillary is toast.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Remember Reagan's "Bombing ( of Russia ) begins in 5 minutes"?

Yes, I do. Reagan's remark did not come during a live press conference but during a "sound check" for a recording session for his weekly presidential address. His remark was NOT made to the press (or live on the air) but to radio sound technicians and it was supposed to be an "inside thing." The context of Trump's remarks were completely different as every mature person would agree.

I believe Reagan is rolling over in his grave at the thought of a Republican leader suggesting even in jest that he wishes the Russian would launch any kind of attack on the United States. Also, do you remember Reagan's "11th commandment" about not speaking ill of any fellow Republican? Was there any Republican that Trump did not insult?

So as I predicted earlier this week, riots, burnings and looting has forever stained the democrats' self-proclaimed "unity convention"

I believe every fair-minded person will agree that your prediction to "look for a whole lotta rioting, burning, looting and arrests" was far from the reality. There was no rioting. (You took what was a peaceful sit-in and fabricated things that never happened, like laptops being grabbed.) There was no burning. (One Israeli flag is not a "whole lotta" anything.) There was no looting. The number of arrests in the fence-climbing affair is less than 12. Not what I call a "whole lotta...."

Hillary is toast.

If Trump is elected, America is toast. But Trump won't be elected. He represents the last gasp of hatred, bigotry, fear-mongering and white supremacy. Most Americans are FAR better than that.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Actually, Hillary is not the first woman presidential nominee. The first was back in the 1870's, Victoria Woodhull.
