I really feel sorry for them. 13 years of non-stop warfare and violence.

I wonder if they would have preferred the corrupt but stabile regime of Hussein.

“My son asked me to kill him because he was so hungry he couldn’t take it anymore… By God that’s what he said. He’s five,” she said, shaking her head."

Thanks a lot, Islamic State.

Lest we forget, it was just the most mind-blowingly idiotic decision to invade that country full stop.

The American public were knowingly deceived by the Republican party who ratcheted up the fear after the shocking events of 9/11. Dissent was squashed as "un-patriotic" despite it being the purest form of patriotism in any democracy. Lawmakers dared not speak out against the madness for fear of being branded themselves as traitors. Never since the Nazi's was fear and paranoia used by a government to act out their own, secretive and wholly money-grubbing agenda.

As I regularly read the comments of the Republican sheep that somehow in their depraved insanity blame this on Obama with their pathetic attempts at revisionism on all of the above points, it's pretty obvious to me that they'd follow another deranged leader like Bush or even Trump at the drop of a hat into more unwinnable and hopelessly expensive conflicts that the taxpayer simply can no longer afford. Conflicts that would actually make Americans and the rest of the Western world more exposed to the madness of Islamic extremism, contrary to the purported aims of the original mission.

And while we'll never know for sure, it's pretty obvious to me that this incident was also the catalyst for the uprising and continued bloodshed throughout the middle east.

"Lest we forget, it was just the most mind-blowingly idiotic decision to invade that country full stop."

Yeah! Saddam had all those Islamist extremists under control! Lest we forget, Hillary Clinton voted for the most mind-blowingly idiotic decision to invade that country full stop!

Yup, Sadden had all them extremists under control.

I hope your happy with your invasion. At least 3 trillion dollars yet to pay back to the Chinese. Thousands of American lives. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's. No end to the misery in sight. You own this "Serrano".

"You own this "Serrano".

What about Hillary, "Madverts"? She voted for the "At least 3 trillion dollars yet to pay back to the Chinese. Thousands of American lives. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's"...

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

Already covered that if you'd bothered to read.

Hilary, unlike yourself, has at least had the integrity to admit that mistake. You own this disaster with your fellow Republicans.

“It’s hot and dusty here, there isn’t enough water or food, but we can survive,” said Umm Issa.

What hath Bush wrought?

Glad to see that the US regime change made the world a safer place after finding all those non existent WMDs....

Seriously, I don't know how folks believe that the entire war on Iraq was only the Republican's fault. It wasn't a party restricted decision. Many Dems' advocated for war as well. Instead of looking at political sides, how about looking at politics as a whole and who stood to gain from it. Namely corporations and oil conglomerates. And who had the money to move politicians towards such a decision? Hmmm. Old saying is, "Follow the money". Terrorist in Iraq was only part of an excuse for them to get what they wanted.

Many Dems' advocated for war as well.

Yep! the lefties love to forget Bill Clintons Iraq sanctions (UN figures show that up to 5,000 children a month die in Iraq because of the sanctions against Iraq) as well as singing the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998.

SEC. 3. SENSE OF THE CONGRESS REGARDING UNITED STATES POLICY TOWARD IRAQ.

It should be the policy of the United States to support efforts to remove the regime headed by Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq and to promote the emergence of a democratic government to replace that regime.

Signed by Bill, put into action by George. Almost like it was planned....naaaaaaa.

Honest,

Who made the case for war?

Republicans in Congress acted as cheerleaders for the administration rather than as constructive critics. Both parties ended up supporting the madness because the Republicans had ratcheted up the paranoia to a point where if you were dissenting the push for war you were "giving confort to the enemy".

Anything else is pale revisionism. I lived through that period. I posted here through that period. The Republicans own everything about Iraq. They also own ISIS.

if you were dissenting the push for war you were "giving confort to the enemy".

"If you're not with us, you're against us" was the call to arms, as far as I recall.

That was immediately after 9/11 Stranger. If W had stopped there, perhaps there would only be a costly mess in Afghanistan, and maybe not. Don't forget that's how bin-Laden escaped as the Republicans abandoned Afghanistan with their obsession with Iraq and allowed Afghanistan to dissolve into the chaos that country also currently lives in. Blunder after blunder after blunder. Debt upon debt upon debt into the trillions of dollars wasted. And all this as the terrorist recruitment drive directly attributable to the wars of the Republican party went into maximum overdrive.

There's no wonder some of our recurring contributors changed their names several times. Yet still they dare show their faces.

Blunder after blunder after blunde

You're making a critical error in thinking these were blunders. They got exactly what they wanted, destabilization while padding their portfolios. I soon realized after 911 that it was a false flag with the ultimate target being Iraq and voiced my opinion openly. Thank god this was before the word "bubble" became a cliché. Again, the Reps and Dems are one party smoking cigars and drinking whiskey together behind closed doors laughing at they way the constituents dance on the strings of the MSM: "the U.S. military will have allocated more money to war-related initiatives than it did under Bush: $866 billion under Obama compared with $811 billion under Bush".

Was Syria, Honduras, Ukraine and Libya Bush? Nope.

Clinton will only increase Bill's, George's and Barak's warmongering.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

No offense Fizz but that's just tinfoil hat territory. Maybe at a stretch the criminal Bush administration LHOP to achieve their money-grubbing corporate agenda. But even that is probably fantasy.

Syria and Libya were popular uprisings. As was Ukraine. Not qualified to speak of Honduras but all your accusations seem to be stuff that would make even Fox Mulder blush so why should I entertain?

"Seriously, I don't know how folks believe that the entire war on Iraq was only the Republican's fault." - comments

Well, the Republicans used to call it "personal responsibility".

The Brief: Bush used forged documents, so poorly crafted, Ambassador Wilson criticized the Niger "yellow cake" uranium story as false, so the Bush Administration betrayed Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame, CIA operative. (all public record)

Before anyone claims that the Bush/Cheney program was anything but selling war, check the history above.

A deliberate forgery, exposed, and Bush relaliation betrays CIA's Plame. America goes to War.

A deliberate use of forged documents, immediately reported as forgeries and the betrayal of a CIA operative, a treasonous act, are the facts and timeline of Bush's occupation of Iraq.

Fallujah? When will Bush be greeted as a "Liberator" there?

Or as a war criminal at the Hague?

The American public were knowingly deceived by the Republican party who ratcheted up the fear after the shocking events of 9/11.

That's right. HRC was on that team too!

I hope your happy with your invasion

After Saddam was toppled, it was up to the iraqis to govern themselves and get their act together. Blame the centuries old rivalry between the Sunni and Shiites. Throw in some Kurds and there you have the whole enchilada. . . . quit blaming republicans.
