And when will these be available to us here in Japan? Never! The Japanese versions of Hulu and Netflix are so terrible, I can't believe they are profitable! But I do notice many of the better TV shows are quickly available on DVD or Blu-ray, perhaps that is the reason we can't stream or download these shows, until they have made a bucket full of money, then show them years later on a poor pay service.

I have NEVER watched video on a cell phone, except to test that it worked. Around 2008, watched videos on a Nokia device when on flights, before all the planes got screens for every seat. If I only have a small screen, much more likely to listen to a book on tape.

If I had a big-city lifestyle, perhaps I'd use the cell phone more?

Cut the cord about 5 yrs ago. Only thing I miss is college sports. Every other type of media is very easily available through Netflix and/or Amazon Prime. More than we can watch and commercial free. Have 3 viewing rooms, each with a different playback device. They are: Roku, Chromecast, Raspberry-Pi with Kodi media player. The chromecast was a waste of money for us. The roku is for streaming APV and the R-Pi gets 98% of the use here. The interface and mix of local and internet streaming is amazing. The R-Pi also accesses live TV thanks to DLNA tuners on the network. Don't watch much live TV anymore.

Looked at SlingTV about 6 months ago - trying to get full Olympic and my college team coverage. It didn't/doesn't fit our needs.

Ahh whatever!

TV? Sure. I record it on my HDD TV tuner or even on the internet dedicated TV channels. HULU? NHL? Sure, and sure. I Chromecast to my TV from my iPhone, or watch on the phone itself or on my laptop.

We have never been so lucky for the omnipresence of content.

The real problem I have is not trying to get it, but trying to avoid it.

People who complain about this or that are either just knit-picking, or greedy whiners: the entitled generation who torrent everything because they refuse to pay for it and because they feel they have a right to watch something not available in their own particular location (yes, that means you @Markx)

"Giving the customers what they want is not profitable enough." Oh, well then...
