If all the planes have been grounded until further notice why all these individual seemingly nonsensical articles about the cancellations? One would figure that "all" are cancelled at a minimum until they certify that the plane is safe.

Once that happens then lets hear about how many flights are cancelled, because for now this just looks like someone trying to ding Boeing for what ever reason.

One thing that sometimes bothers me about this kind of thing in Japan is that the government or companies like JAL, ANA, or whatever the related companies are always want to be the first to have something and always want to have the most. Japan has more MRI machines than many nations combined (15% or the world's), went and bought BILLIONS of dollars in Swine-flu detection machines that never ended up getting used, builds WAY too many NPPS, owns 80% or so of the world's 787s and still has 20 more on order, etc. This kind of thing always ends up in this type of situation when there's a problem.

I'm pretty sure we're going to see JAL, ANA, and the J-government in general pushing hard to say the Dreamliners are 'perfectly safe' even before all testing is done because of how much strain it's putting on the industry and how much money they're losing. They were too quick to buy, and too quick to scrap some of the older models, and now they're in trouble.

I wonder if Japanese airline companies will ever buy Airbuses.....

Right, Yubaru. Might save pixels if they'd just state when a 787 flight wasn't cancelled.

Well currently you can book flights on these planes, for sufficiently far ahead in the future. They probably think there is no need to revamp their schedules for next year, on the assumption that it will probably get sorted out before then.

But it's a pretty boring news story.

I have got nothing against JAL or ANA, but they need to be clear. I cannot take the risk to book a business trip with them while there is a x% chance it will be cancelled. Or make it transparent 5%, 25%, 50%, ... Then I can make my choice.

But for sure this Dreamliner is the most ever full-efficient plane. 2 weeks without refilling for a plane is quite a record!

It is turning into a nightmare liner for ANA.

Never bet all your cards on a first generation technology.

There is no way I could ever board a B787:
