Noda, do you see what your nationalistic rhetoric brings us? Economic instability, and loss of international respect. Get it together!

How will China hurt its' own economy? People will spend their money somewhere else

No great loss. Chinese coming to Japan to buy Japanese goods made in China eating at restraints and hotels staffed with Chineese. Future investment by Japan and the rest of the world put on hold or canceled, Japan has helped China develop, now it's time to shift focus to more deserving countries. When the Chineese see how their Gov has shot it's self in the foot they will turn on their master.

How many Chinese have cancelled trips to Japan? Works both ways.

Time for a ticket price cut.

Maybe Japan should concentrate more on the USA, South Asia and the Philippines, which appreciate Japan more.

Look what you've done Mr Ishihara! If only you had kept your mouth shut for once!

tmarie: Some have for sure, but I still see a lot of Japanese walking around in Osaka City; they're not afraid to come and have fun.

Anyway, this would be a great time to go to China if you're not Japanese. I imagine the flights are quite cheap.

Please! Japan needs cheap labor, bottom line. Japan may have helped China develop to an extent, but China most certainly helps keep Japan afloat.

They should bill it to Ishihara. He started all this nonsense... What an idiot and a liability!

Does anyone think that Japan and China will ever have a good relationship?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Well I have to give the east asians credit where credit is due... election year politics over there are much more interesting than that in the States.

The only thing about Lion and tigers, is that they may be big and powerful, even patient, but they all have trainers and handlers to get them to go left or right, and even jump through hoops, and behave when they get out of line. i wonder how this would allegory play out between China and Japan?

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Time to build those relations with the Philippines and other deserving countries, democracies

It's true producers who went to China will never get it that good again, so other countries will want to be paid more, but it's either that or do things domestically

This is the price that must be paid when a county is RIGHT. It would be far better for the Japanese government to subsidize ANA tickets to Japan to make up the difference than give in to the extortion. Keep the money in Japan ti stimulate the economy. Tourism increases, local business benefits, and a statement is made.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Quite right.

Japan, Korea and China all need to work together, all of these little problems will soon be over with, NMRK

Some people have been trying hard forever just to have nationalists show up and ruin all the hard work. It's really hopeless I think.

And their entire week-long tour will buy them less than one night at a local hotel or hotspring, without the meal, and give them zero multi-cultural experience. It's a shame Japan is making enemies (worse than before, that is) out of so many Asian neighbours -- can't go to Taiwan any more, China, or South Korea.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

China got the wrong move bullying neighbors. Now everybody dislike China!

Cancellation is misspelled in your headline.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Seriously, I think there are more Chinese people flying to Japan than vice versa. Chinese airlines have had to cancel more than 50,000 seats and rising since the 23rd. http://www.theepochtimes.com/n2/china-news/as-china-japan-tensions-escalate-tourists-and-flights-fall-victim-295544.html

This situation is hurting Japan more than China. This sounds like news that is just trying to hype the situation and it is one sided. At least this Chinese article mentions Japan.

Perhaps Japan should focus on Japan, and taking care of her internal problems. That dolphins and other cetaceans continue to be slaughtered in Taiji even though their flesh is toxic, that the few Japanese whalers are out there making Japan look bad when there isn't even a market for whale flesh, to name just a couple examples. Reining in nuclear energy so that the nation does not suffer any further radiation... Much to do at home.

Building any relationship with other Asian states will yeild same resolve if we don't fix the fundamentals. People in the Philipines, Vietnam, Thailand, etc had all been invaded by Japan in the past and bitterness remains. China is a big challenge and if we get this right, the others will follow.

When the Chineese see how their Gov has shot it's self in the foot they will turn on their master.

It's the Chinese citizens who are instigating boycotts of Japanese business. They're also disgruntled that their government hasn't been taking a harder line against Japan.

Alexander: "Now everybody dislike China!"

Not at all. What 'everyone' dislikes are the violent protests and damage caused by said protests, as well as perhaps some of the actions of the government. But the Japanese government has been no better, and anyone who dislikes China based on the violent actions of a few is no better than said few. I don't dislike Chinese people one bit for what happened, again, save for the violent acts committed, same as I don't dislike Japanese people in general when a few right wingers pull some act of violence, or the idiocy of the government here.

akkk1 is right, it's the PEOPLE this time and the J-GOV & some media should wake up and realise the truth so that they might be able to find an appropriate solution to the issue soon. i think the Japanese government misinterpreted the situation and the government should also be held responsible for the deep rooted misunderstanding because if they teach basic facts of WII history ( raw, like sashimi without soy sauce and keep the wasabi if you want, but fish remains fish not a McDonald filet-o-fish ), there are generations of Japanese would and will benefit from it. I think Japanese has every reason to be proud for their culture and many other smithinjapan is also right, most Chinese people condemned those rioters, too and police made arrests, if you calculate the percentage, most people express their opinions peacefully. This morning a friend from Shanghai ( a major agency) said there're 55000persons cancelled trips to Japan, that's within two weeks and they had to close 2 of the 4 routes. Actually we were hoping for Japanese market recovery after the quake but now it's hit again. Just wish decision makers will get sensible, keep building the free trade zone, share energy ( we all need that, lets admit it). Helping trade to grow instead of hurting business ties will help to solve domestic issues in turn. One day, when there're Asia Star trains connecting Japan-China-Korea, we will forget we ever quarreled.
