It would be very interesting to know what Carrier got in return for staying. This mirrors the Nissan deal in the UK and sets an extremely worrying precedent as I assume all businesses will want some form of deal now

so basically giving away money that the US doesn't have, wait for the rest to start lining up for the same treatment. US like Japan has lost millions of jobs to cheaper Asian countries, mostly China. only way Trump is going to make a considerable dent in the damage done is put high tariffs on imported goods But that runs the risk of WTO involvement and most probably a trade war with China. US big business cant afford to lose the foothold in China market which is growing must faster and has more opportunities than the US in the coming years. China wont hesitate to apply counter tariffs on US businesses should congress decide to go down that path.
