18-year-old girl's buttocks slashed with knife on Tokyo cruise ship

Police said Thursday that an 18-year-old girl was slashed in the buttocks while she was aboard a cruise in Tokyo Bay on Wednesday night.

According to police, the attack occurred at around 7:20 p.m. The cruises are advertised as a way of enjoying the night views while escaping from the heat and humidity in the city.

The victim, a university student, was quoted by police as saying she felt someone behind her feel her buttocks, and then she felt pain, TBS reported.

When the ship docked at Takeshiba pier, police delayed the 1,700 passengers and crew from disembarking while their belongings were searched, but no weapons were found no suspect identified, police said.

So are you telling me she couldn't just turn around and see what was going on behind her after someone touching her?

Great now there is a butt bandit too.

1,700 passengers on a single boat?! Gee, that sounds relaxing and fun.

You obviously have never been on a cruise ship. If it was a proper cruise liner with 1,700 people the place would seem empty.

2 ( +7 / -5 )

I wouldn't call it a "proper" cruise liner. Its more like a ferry,...and yes 1700 people is pretty overcrowded.

the ship that leaves Takeshiba pier:

nobody saw this? crap I can't even pick my damn nose without being seen by someone, let alone slash a girls butt with a knife. christ!

10 ( +12 / -2 )

shogun36 - There probably wasn't enough room to turn around with 1,700 passengers on board!

1 ( +4 / -3 )

sure it was a knife not his piercing :O

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

The ship is Salvia Maru. It can carry up to 1,927 passengers. The unsub (unknown subject) probably dumped the knife or weapon into the bay. Hope he is apprehended.

This cruise around tokyo bay is great and have been many times, 2500yen for a 2 hour cruise includes all you can drink too.

The summer weirdness is off and running...

1 ( +1 / -0 )

So did the guy slice through her clothing, or was her rear that exposed?

the operator's website says capacity is 816. I guess that means it was at like a Yamanote carriage at rush hour. Certainly not my idea of enjoying a river scene during a sweltering summer night, but then I'm not Japanese.

Hi there. Look here→ http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%81%95%E3%82%8B%E3%81%B3%E3%81%82%E4%B8%B8

乗客定員 (capacity) says 1,926 名.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

whoops 1, 927 capacity

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@JeffLee

I did check out their website and it does say 816 capacity. Thanks for correcting my mistake.

ribstick - probably she was wearing a skirt that the attacker lifted, or anyway, clothing made of very thin material. One can't easily slash through jeans for example. Poor girl.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Overcrowded but all you can drink. and plenty of sweet young things go along to take piccies and shout sugoi! Seems like a blast.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

And I thought getting "kanchoed" by school boys at school was bad. Seriously though...what else will perverts think of. This is both sexual assault and criminal assault. Catch that guy and send him away. Poor girl, I hope she will be okay.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Why do some people think this is funny? The poor girl could have caught anything from the slashing weapon.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Agree with Thunderbird2.

The buttock like the shoulder-joint has a major artery running through it, if he cut that one she wouldn't have made it to shore.

This ain't Hollywood being slashed/shot has major consequences and you won't fight the bad guys afterwards.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Sure.

Let me tell you I was in the Military and recently had a major surgery that left me with a 20cm scar across my stomach(still recovering).

You think it is a joke being slashed I got news for you. Thumb me down all you like.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

It"S MEJul. 20, 2012 - 05:44PM JST The buttock like the shoulder-joint has a major artery running through it, if he cut that one she wouldn't have made it to shore.

I assume you're thinking of the femoral artery? The problem with your theory is that the femoral artery runs in front of the hips, not behind them... getting stabbed in the buttocks is undoubtedly painful and there may be other concerns, but bleeding out is not one of them.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Frungy.

Recheck your medical books. There was a very recent case of a kid being stabbed in the buttock and bled to death. Granted not in Japan.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

I am surprised she couldn't feel it right away and see the damn culprit. Maybe it was a really sharp knife and cut through like butter. Crazy stuff

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I can se the thumb-down crowd can't see the difference between a medical procedure(which minimises damage) and a random slashing which don't care about the damage inflicted.

Hope she recovers soon but I think she will be left with a permanent scar. Agree shock set in and it took her time to realise what happened.

I would think that the operator's site is more accurate. Wikipedia even has a citation needed flag on the number, which usually indicates that it may not be accurate.

If 816 is the true capacity, I would hold the operators partially responsible for over packing the ship

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I don't think overcrowding led to her being slashed by some wanker who gets his jollies inflicting pain on unsuspecting members of the public.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

What the heck is wrong with some people?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I think when people panic they miss a tremendous amount of information. It would be an easy situation to panic on board of a large ship.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I hope it didn't leave a scar on her butt, that would be a bloody shame.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Actually the greatest danger is injury to the sciatic nerve which runs up to the buttocks. "Slash" or stabbing from the rear has minimal chance of injury to major vessels. I guess the cops thought the attack was nothing since they didn't inconvenience the passengers for a few hours. Well, that perv will strike again, hopefully to someone who would kick is butt before calling the cops. What part of the ship was this young lady with such a large number of passengers aboard? It's strange that an 18y/o goes on one of these trips without a couple of friends/classmates.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It could have been a box-cutter, which some slashers seem to favor, but the article tells us nothing.

Neither how long nor how deep nor whether it goes up and down or sideways.

We had a guy at our college here who was randomly slashing people's faces with a box cutter. When the police caught him, in class, he still had the cutter in his bag.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Of course no weapon found. They were ON A BOAT lol. It's been deep 6'ed. GL finding it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

You have to imagine the guy enjoys doing it and knows that within a space of time he will be needing to do it again.

It is possible that rather than the sweaty hassle of having to buy a new one each time, he keeps and uses the old one...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This ain't Hollywood being slashed/shot has major consequences and you won't fight the bad guys afterwards.

This may not be Hollywood, but you're freaking insane if you think I won't do everything in my power to protect myself after already being slashed. That INCLUDES fighting back, scooping their eyeballs out with my fingers, screaming and yelling for help, and drawing their own knife across their throat if at all possible. They already cut me, why should I assume they will stop with that? Once you've been cut, deadly force IS authorized to defend yourself.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

I agree with your last 2 sentences, except for the problem the law don't in most places. One reason why 98% of all self-defense claims are thrown out.

Shock, Blood-loss, etc might but a damper on your Rambo act, ask any Vet with a purple heart.

Heck, I had a major medical surgery very recently, no way was I walking about soon after. Got an 8" scar now. And the Doc did minimal damage.
