Police in Saitama said Thursday they have arrested a 41-year-old man for fatally stabbing his 39-year-old wife.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 6 a.m. on Wednesday. TV Asahi reported that police received a call from the suspect, Kazuhiro Suzuki, saying that he had just stabbed his wife at their home in Kita Ward.

Police rushed to the scene and took Suzuki into custody. His wife Yukie was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead from knife wounds to her neck.

Suzuki was quoted by police as saying he and his wife had been having a heated argument and that he lost his temper.

Divorce was a better option. I guess you can't do that anymore. R.I.P

For all those folks voting down posts likes, "Saitama again?", can you point to another prefecture that has the same murder and assault rate per capita that isn't perhaps making headlines at JT? Further, how many of you have spent time or lived in Saitama? From first hand experience of living there for nearly two years, it's pretty crappy as Japan goes. Yes, Kawagoe has a charming preserved district and Urawa is okay. But otherwise I think it should be used as a penal colony.

It's always seemed that way to me. Fewer calculated, premeditated murders and more "crimes of passion," too often directed at family members.
