The body of a man found in the Nagara River in Gifu Prefecture is believed to be that of a man wanted for murder, police said Friday.
Police said the body was discovered in a dry part of the river bed by a man who was clearing out trash on Thursday at around 3 p.m., Fuji TV reported. Police said they have yet to identify the body, but that the deceased was in possession of the keys to a car owned by Satoko Takahashi, 60, and her daughter Isato Takahashi, 35, who were murdered in November.
Police said that there is a strong likelihood that the body found was that of Satoko's husband, 59-year-old Katsuyuki Takahashi, for whom an arrest warrant was issued last month.
