Police in Tokyo have arrested a caregiver for withdrawing 6 million yen, without authorization, from the bank account of a woman with dementia.

According to police, Hiroki Yamazaki, 35, is accused of stealing the money from his 82-year-old dementia patient's bank account in October 2015, falsely claiming at the bank in Katsushika Ward, that the woman had lost her cash card, Fuji TV reported Friday.

The family of the woman, who resides in a facility for dementia patients, contacted police in February after discovering that 1.5 million yen was missing from her bank account.

Yamazaki has been looking after the woman and has admitted to the theft. He was quoted by police as saying he thought she would not find out about his crime due to her dementia.

How dare the caregiver preyed on the weakness of the dementia patient! He doesn't even deserve to be called a human being.

People who rip off seniors and people suffering from dementia or mental illness should get particularly harsh sentences. They are parasites who rip off others.
