The truth is that these types of things happen everywhere with cops. Cops are not saints and need to be watched so they do not abuse the authority entrusted to them.

I won't argue with the last bit, but fact is when a police officer tells you to do something, most people do it. If anyone is going to make a convincing fake cop, my money is on an ex-cop.

He rented the care and loaned it to someone else? Ok, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt wanker. Who did you lend it to? A stranger? Surely the girl can identify him. I just love all these pathetic excuses and alibis these losers come up with. Do society a favor and stitch this loser up with a room in the emperor's hotel with three rice meals a day.

Sadly, in common with many positions in Japan, from kabuki and politicians downwards, the police are becoming a hereditary profession.

Why would you rent a car and then "loan" it to an acquaintance? Pretty sure that alone is breaking the rules of renting a car as normally they only allow the person who rented it, or someone who has signed on at the same time as them to drive it. What a pathetic excuse. Who is this acquaintance? I bet he just so happened to look similar to him and disappear from the city at the same time with no form of contact available.

He seems pretty young to have left the police force, unless there was some previous trouble that caused them to ask him quietly to resign. I'd be very interested in knowing just what caused him to leave. If I were a betting man, I'd put my money on the brass covering up similar behavior in hope of avoiding a scandal. If so, they exercised bad judgement, it seems. But that's only speculation. I'm glad the girl got away, and the guy got caught.

Crimes against children deserve extra long jail sentences. No sympathy for this kind of behavior.
