Kyoto man arrested after calling victim to apologize for assault

On June 4 at around 11 p.m., bridal store employee Eisuke Himoto allegedly approached a 30-year-old woman on her way home from her part-time job. According to police, he called out to her asking, “Why don’t we get a drink?” to which the woman tried to run away.

Most men at this point would consider attempted escape as a sign that a woman is not into them. Himoto, on the other hand, allegedly felt this had become the perfect opportunity to begin hugging and kissing the woman from behind.

Himoto’s same lack of judgment would eventually lead to his speedy arrest shortly after.

The 23-year-old suspect then, according to the authorities, felt things had progressed enough to try and get the woman’s contact info, telling her, “I’ll let you go if you give me your phone number.”

The woman complied with his demand and was released. Now, at this point Himoto had allegedly gotten away with his assault having been able to walk away without his victim screaming for help afterwards.

A short time later, the woman received a phone call from a man saying, “Sorry about before.” Figuring it was the same man who had extorted her number out of her earlier, she quickly contacted the police. From there it didn’t take long for them to get to the bottom of things as the suspect’s phone number was now saved in her incoming call memory.

DUH! Just glad it didn't turn out worse.

Did he say he was drunk and did not remember any thing ...?? Glad she was safe ..

He seems to have no sense of having done anything wrong and probably was amazed when the police called.

Dumb criminal of the week? (Justice is effective only against stupid criminals and misses out on the slick professionals.)

She might need to change her number very quickly. Similar thing happened to me in Germany, I pretended to be very friendly, gave this guy a completely wrong name and telephone number and I never heard from him again. I would live in fear if I gave my real number to such a guy.

Why did she run? She could have just turned him down politely or ignored him. Sounds silly.

@darknuts... Not sure if you're just making a joke. If you're serious though, did you even read the article? evidently, ignoring and turning down were not options for this man!

I always give creeps a fake number, but since the arrival of mobile phones many serial harassers now go around the corner to dial the number and check it, and come back to you hurling abuse when they realise it's not genuine. Not only does this show a massive degree of self absorption and entitlement on their part, it can also be pretty scary. No means no, I'm not interested.

This weeks stupid criminal award goes to this creep!

What happened to the good old days when you could call someone without the person you are calling knowing your number, lol

How about not giving a phone number and all and say you are taken and/or don't have a phone?

Dumb criminals...

Thank heavens for the dumb ones. They are the ones that generally get caught more easily.

@DaDude. It doesn't always work. You say you are not interested, that you are married. It doesn't matter to the deluded, entitled ones. If you are a female out without a man you are obviously gagging for it. You want them to go away, so you give them a number.

Say you have a 'member' and are pre-op. They'll walk.

2 ( +2 / -1 )

Better still just say you are diagnosed with STD.

The old "did he say he was drunk" joke is getting a little stale. Please try to come up with some new material.

In fact, alcohol causes people to act out. It frequently makes them do/say things that they wouldn't ordinarily do/say. The bolded part of your comment suggests that you didn't read the article (or even the headline) since calling the victim to apologize certainly indicates that he "remembered" what he had done.

I would bet a considerable sum of money that this guy was drunk when he decided to grope a stranger. It sure doesn't excuse his behavior, but its not helpful to have JT posters constantly making jokes to make it sound like being drunk is not a factor in many many crimes - particularly assaults of this kind. Public drunkenness is a scourge on society. And that fact is hardly limited to Japan.

should've stopped while he's ahead

"Socially illiterate" would be an understatement to describe this buffoon...

Should have called from another persons phone... and pretended to be someone that he didn't like. "Sorry, this is Putin! First of all, sorry for assaulting you and for taking your land! Later!"

Numbers can be changed. This lady did very well. She not only made the guy feel stupider than he already is, but got him arrested as well. If she had given a wrong number, the dirtbag would keep trying, but maybe now he'll think twice before assaulting someone.

Not quite at the top of the I.Q. list with this one.
