Police in Fukuyama, Hiroshima Prefecture, said Sunday they have arrested a 62-year-old man on suspicion of abdandoning a body after the body of his 68-year-old wife was found in his home.
According to police, the suspect, Keiji Nagasawa, who works as a security guard, has denied the charge.
Police said the body was found on the second floor of the couple's house on Saturday by their son who had come to visit, Fuji TV reported. The woman appeared to have been dead since late September, police said.
Police quoted Nagasawa as saying he didn't know there was a body upstairs. The woman's friends and relatives said there has been no contact with her for a couple of months.

His excuse of not knowing there was a body upstairs is not so unbelievable. Many couples in Japan live estranged lives in the same house. However, with the body being there for a few months the smell must have been quite terrible making his excuse quite feeble.

Seriously? That's gonna be his defense? Good luck with that...

Husband is the word to use here, not man in neither title nor article. Husband isn't used once?!

I think he had an olfactory issue and did not know she was upstairs rotting. Sort of like an Olio factory confectionary environment.

He did know that he was married, and that his wife wasn't around since september. Just how stupid does he think the cops are?
