Man arrested for slamming 6-year-old son's face against wall

Maybe at last the presumption that the vast majority of Japanese have about children, that they are someone's Object, is finally being questioned and found unacceptable. The abuse of children is so under the radar here it borders on the criminal. It's a 'family affair' has got to stop being the excuse for not doing anything.

I am very, very sorry for this kid, but if the parents of my school days were held up to the same standards as today, most of them would've been in big trouble. (In fact, my parents were very unusual in that they never hit me at all.) One of my school mates was whipped with the cord from the kettle whenever she misbehaved, and another was hit by a cane on her legs. Even the teachers used to cuff or smack us when we got out of line. I've heard even worse stories from Japanese friends.

I once showed up at school with a black eye (actually from a girl-fight) and the only teacher who noticed was a Canadian import.

Good for the teacher for contacting child services. As for the dad (i wont say father) Endo was quoted by police as saying his son wouldn’t listen to him. What kind of man harms a child let alone his own child answer = thats not a man its a maggot, scum.

I've witnessed parents getting very free with their hands and feet many times in Japan. They just lash out at a kid with whatever is handy. Maybe if these so-called 'parents' spent less time staring at their phones, playing pachinko and reading manga comics and more time paying attention to their kids. their kids might actually start listening to and respecting their parents! Just a thought!

i do believe in punishment if a child behaves badly, but you can't go around putting children in hospital, thats a step to far!

The father slams the kid's face into the wall. The kid is well enough to go to school, where the teacher notices the "injuries". The child then goes to the hospital and it is determined that he is suffering several cranial injuries that will require several weeks of hospitalization.

Something doesn't add up here.

As fathers, haven't we've all been angry 100 times + some. Kids need discipline, but christ . . . ! . . . slamming face thru wall? Chill-out.

Yeah Im not understanding this either. Cranial damage suggests a fractured skull or something, especially with two weeks in hospital. But he was able to go to school where someone noticed his injuries (anyone else notice the mother didnt notice?)? Ive never had a fractured skull so please correct me if Im wrong but I`m under the impression a head injury of such severity it needs two weeks of hospitalization would preclude the ability to live a normal life like going to school, no?

I have had two concussions. There is no way you could get to school. It hurts too much.

These parents were playing hockey with this kid. Messed up.

Get on Google, search "child abuse cases in my country_____", then come back here and tell us the statistics. You will notice that child abuse and domestic violence aren't just Japanese things.

Too much violence in this world, but do hope that scum father gets his butt kicked inside and out in jail and later OUT of jail! Poor little boy!

So sad. There's a direct proportion of child abuse and people living in poverty. It's always the innocent that suffers the most.
