Yeah. Start looking at people who knew him, because this wasn't a random killing by a stranger, this was someone who knew him well enough to hate him very, very deeply.

I didn't think one could get stabbed so many times in one spot... Nose, eyes, mouth, cheeks, forehead...

The first officer to have seen this man better be getting counselling and or therapy for the year...

Hate to be the poor guy who has to count each individual stab wound. This doesn't sound like your standard mob hit. Had to have been a crime of passion in which the stabber lost complete control of their sanity.

Crime of passion? This has the look of an inside job. The relatives are most certainly the prime suspects. RIP. NO ONE should die like that.

Agree with Frungy here, this suggests a level of personal intimacy here and I wouldn't be surprised if a family member was responsible.

wow, real rage from the aggressor, even more points coz he went for he face, can't even look away while stabbing so there is definitely some serious hate

In terms of anger management, this is the type of guy that holds his temper for too long and finally releases it out. It's like a time bomb or a volcano eruption. In summary, the grudge of this person has reached its limit which is why he/she blackened out by killing him mercilessly without stopping.

crime of passion, definately a close friend or family member. Older person probably, with honne/tatemae issues. Thank you CSI

everyone's jokes and puns here are so lame that they actually end up being funny -_-

But yeah, definitely not a random murder.

One time I read an article about a man who was also stabbed in the face but it was by a woman. She was appaerantly raped by him and she did it because she kept having occurring dreams about the event. Sickining but justifiable but this case who knows....RIP

That's terrible, japan is not as safe as before anymore.

That's terrible, japan is not as safe as before anymore

It's much safer than it was 50 years ago.

In 1954 (Showa 29), some 3,081 people were murdered. For 1955 (Showa 30) the figure came to 3,066 murders. That comes to 1 murder per 28,640 and 29,379 inhabitants respectively.

Let’s go back a little more in time. In 1933 (Taisho 8) no fewer than 2,713 murders were committed in Japan. Or 1 for every 24,855 inhabitants. In other words, even worse than the figures for 1954 and 1955.

Compare that with the murder rate today. A total of 1,309 murders took place in 2006, the last year for which there is accurate data. That is about one for every 97,000 inhabitants. That is clearly far safer than the situation during the safe Taisho (1912-1926) and Showa (1926-1989) periods.
