The suspect, an unemployed man from Ishikawa Prefecture, was dubbed “Sugar” by investigators following his high-cholesterol trail, according to national broadcaster NHK.

Cholesterol? How about diabetes!

Yasuhiro Wakashima, 51, is accused of eating over 250 desserts during more than 40 incidents since 2013—with ice cream, chocolate and puddings top of his wish list, Tokyo police said on Tuesday.

250 desserts, 40 incidents? And it took the cops 3 years to catch him?

Wakashima, who was shown on television being led away by police with head bowed, has confessed to eating the sweet treats, according to local media, adding he caused almost 5.2 million yen in losses.

5.2 million .....divide 5 million yen by 250, and you get 20,000. So the average cost of one dessert is 20,000 yen? Dude was hitting up some pretty pricey stuff.

Kudos to the JP's (sarcasm) for finally getting their guy!

Cost = Sweets plus damages due to the breakins.

The sweets junkie was finally arrested. He has now ended up learning the hard way that "life is not a box of chocolates."

Caught with his hand in the cookie jar! I wonder what kind of sweet stuff he will get in the clink?
