Two women stole two rings worth 16.2 million yen from a jewelry store in Anjo, Aichi Prefecture, on Sunday.

According to police, the two women entered the Estelle store in a shopping mall at around 3:30 p.m. and were being shown a range of rings, TV Asahi reported. When staff left the women to attend to other customers, the pair left the store. Staff realized that the rings were missing and alerted the police.

Police are on the lookout for the women, who they described as being "Southeast Asian in appearance."

Some Japanese are very trusting and honest.... poor salesgirl.

Are we sure it's not an inside job?

Be prepared for shakedowns by the cops, gaijin of all colours in Aichi! Years ago there was a conbini robbery in my suburb here - supposedly by a chinese guy. Us white fella english teachers subsequently got the doorknocks and interrogations over the next few days. Of course, they never caught the (alleged) Chinese fellow. I do hope they catch these criminals but their methods pretty questionable so I doubt they will.

Well I guess these women figured no guy was ever gonna buy them the rings,so they just took them. I am sure though that if i stole so much as pack of gum from a conbini they would have the whole police force looking for me.

Yes, that is because they thought they are living in a peaceful country. That is not always the case when you are around with Gaijins ???? This will be another reason for the Japanese to despise Gaijins.

How does someone "look Southeast Asian," pray tell. They be Saitama girls with tans.

Just another blame the foreigners routine by the Japanese police.

I mean they might be Saitama girls with suntans. Danged typo!

Well done ladies. Take the opportunity when it arises, of course ;)

Not intending to rub it in the attendant's face, but when you're dealing in valuable items, you should be a bit more observant than having "Looks Southeast Asian to me"

May I take the opportunity to remind you that the vast majority of all crime in Japan is committed by - brace yourself - Japanese. It's not a gaijin problem as you are inferring. Even Japanese cops have their hands involved in crimes (literally) as reported daily in the news.

See what you did there - like it

I have always had a soft spot non-violent criminals like the two above. Their swagger, their way of reading others while staying cool, their single-mindedness.

Who cares, shops have insurance, the police are made to look stupid and two South-East Asians are clinking champagne glasses right now.

Good score!

If they're caught, the ladies will say they were just saving the government from having to "redistribute the wealth."

Didn't I read this exact same story (albeit about two men) some months ago ? Is JT recycling news ?

I was watching the news and according to the shop clerks they spoke with heavy accents and looked SE Asian. not everything is an anti-gaijin conspiracy.

Crowded shopping mall on a Sunday

Shakedown the escort, soapbox and girlie bars around Aichi.

Next time a foreigner steals, robs and etc they should leave a note and give their nationality. It will help the police and salespeople to narrow down the suspects.

I thought all jewelry stores had cameras, hidden cameras, and outdoor cameras.

" Estelle store in a shopping mall at around 3:30 p.m "

In a shopping mall ??? check the security cameras How did they get their by walk, bus, car or bicycle

One camera spotted them

Lol, looks Southeast Asian. I'm Southeast Asian and no one seems to ever guess what I am. I apparently look Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and the most mistaken one, Filipino. I don't know how many ppl try to speak Tagalog to me.

i smell foul play here

sure they are not chinese??

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Southeast Asians, uhmm sounds like somewhere in the south of Japan or is Japan not part of Asia? If they ask me if I saw anything, I would say ''doesn't RING a bell'' HAHA

Heavy accents? They really could be from Saitama, depending on what you classify as heavy.
