Woman arrested for killing newborn baby, leaving body in locker

Police said Wednesday they have arrested a 30-year-old woman in Ibaraki on suspicion of killing her newborn baby daughter.

The woman, identified as Miyuki Nagamine, was quoted by police as saying she gave birth to a baby girl in a Tsukuba hotel room in August, NTV reported. She allegedly killed the infant and then left the body in a coin-operated locker.

During police questioning, Nagamine told investigators that she had separated from her husband, was living with her 3-year-old son and that life had been economically tough before the birth, NTV reported. She was quoted as saying she felt she could not offer the baby a decent quality of life.

Geeeezzzzzzzz! She couldn't offer the baby a decent quality of life, so she kills the baby? Where's the rationale behind that?

RIP little angel

This is in large part due to the 3rd world social system here. There is s0 little support for such women (or men).

now no family, no money, no work no baby. Did it change anything?

What an IDIOT..Haven't these people ever heard of ADOPTION????? Now she has ruined not only her life but her sons life too.

I wonder why with all the "We Japanese" mentality that exists here, adoption is not a viable solution for fellow Japanese with unwanted babies.

There are so many who can't have, and want, and too many who do have, who not only don't want, but abandon, abuse, maim and/or kill.

Adoption is a far better option than this horror.

If she had enough money to stay at a hotel, she should have gone to Kyushu and should have left the baby at the baby hatch there. As a parent and a human being, you have to act responsibly.

Hundreds of qualified loving people and couples in North America and other places would clamor anxiously for the opportunity to adopt an adorable Japanese infant. Where is the infrastructure for accommodating this solutions to such a heartbreaking problem for all three parties, the mother, infant, and adopting family?

Social welfare, authorities, guys, are you still on the thinking process of what and how to go about the situation here? Or do you still need more innocent lives to ne sacrificed?

Adoption is a far better option than this horror.

Doesn't work like that in Japan. Together with mental illness, adoption is viewed as something one just does not even talk about, much less do anything about...

Note to self... look into adoption racket for N.A. couples. Have Brad and Angelina pitch.

She was quoted as saying she felt she could not offer the baby a decent quality of life.

You are sick lady, see professional help before deciding that for another life. The main problem here is that she will get a suspended sentence or 18 months or something stupidly small.

The biggest danger to Japanese children are their families!

During police questioning, Nagamine told investigators that she had separated from her husband,

Surely he should be paying child support.

So she thought she couldn't give this baby a decent quality of life but she can for her 3-year old?

We always talk about adoption in these forums but the problem with Japanese..is they are mostly against adoption..and most orphanages are 100 percent full because of this. There are waiting lists for some kids to get in (not sure how that works) When I told my Japanese husband I would want to adopt at least one of our kids he wasn't so keen on the idea...it makes me sad that many Japanese value blood over love..this woman knows this and do many women..there is no help for her or her baby here and there absolutely should be! she shouldn't have felt she had to turn to murder but she made the wrong decision and will pay for it.

Aha, dayjavu much? Love the way she turned her excuse around to make it look like she was doing the kid a favor.

What hell is wrong with these people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Almost, everyday this nonsense happens, it makes no sense. Pure selfishness there is no excuse for this at all. I know this happens in other countries but, I don't hear about parents murdering their children everyday. Children don't even have a change to experience life at all, where is the love for children?

While it would be ideal for these people to be putting their children up for adoption - something which will never pick up in this stubborn country, why don't they just make birth control methods more readily available. In South Korea you can walk into a pharmacy and get the pill over the counter without any form of a checkup/prescription. In Thailand you can find it on shelves in the drug stores. I assume that all of these people getting pregnant aren't using any form of birth control in the first place, and if they are so against using condoms they might as well get on the pill. Would save them the trouble of worrying about where to stash the body of their dead newborn child and we wouldn't have to read articles like this on a daily basis. Whoever is in charge of teaching Sex-Ed in the school systems here needs to be fired as well.

I hope she gets the noose!

Serious problems in this country, and those child murders and abuse is happening every day.

Now, I know there will be plenty of Japanophiles pointing put that Japan isn't alone for crazy people, but these stories here are far too common and all follow a similar way of thinking..."times are hard" and "I can't cope"

That's not an excuse!

You have no money, And feel cus of that, you are having a hard time taking care of one son, so the best thing to do is kill his baby sister and shove her body in a coin locker?

Nobody looks for help, nobody asks for help, nobody offers help.

This country has more problems that the bad economy people talk about; the social aspect is seriously messed up.

JT needs a 5 mins edit function:

What are the police and the government doing to stop the daily killing of children by their families!?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Just sick! Stupid! What in the hell are these people thinking! If she got divorced, separated etc..the Japanese govt gives $$$ to these mothers!! Their is more to this story than meets the eye! I feel so sorry for this poor baby up in crappy Ibaraki. RIP??

Let us pray for the lost.

I think the Japanes hospital should have a chart for postpartum depression like how America do. I think this will help a little to know if a mother is depressed and she can go get some help.

I think the Japanese education system should add in their curriculum more about life and moral values. Many troubled pregnant Japanese young women doesn't know where to run or ask for help because their municipal government doesn't give them thorough information for what their City Hall can do for them. Poor baby... May her soul rest in peace.

good for her now enjoy her life in prison

There are hundreds of children languishing in orphanages who cannot be adopted due to the fact that their parents wont give up their parental rights. The parents dont want them and they wont let anyone else have them either. The whole system needs huge changes and to ctually start putting the rights of a child to have a nurturing and safe family environment. The doctors involved in this womans case should also be held accountable. These stories break my heart. RIP little innocents.

Did she read the old book about the locker babies. I believe it was written in the fifties and translated to English about ten years ago.
