Police said Wednesday they are looking for a man who stabbed a woman on a street in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward.

According to police, a woman was heard screaming near Minami-Shinjuku Station on the Odakyu line at around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday. A bystander contacted emergency services to report that a woman had been injured and was seeking assistance. The caller told the emergency operator that the victim was lying in a pool of blood, screaming for help after having been stabbed, TBS reported.

Police arrived at the scene to find the woman in a nearby residence, where she had gone to seek help. The woman had been stabbed five times in the side of the abdomen and the arm. Police say that the victim was taken to hospital and is a stable condition. She told police she did not know her attacker, TBS reported.

Wow...it'd really scary if this is just a random stabbing, and the perpetrator is still on the loose.

Freaky, I hope they can track this nut ball down.

Glad to hear she will recover.

So what did the caller do? Did he/she take the woman to the nearby residence? Reading the text it looks as if the person reported the crime then left, leaving the woman to seek help at a nearby residence. I really hope I got the wrong end of the stick there. If I saw someone lying in a pool of blood screaming a bloody well wouldn't just report it then bugger off.

Somebody please explain. Stabbed on a street in Shibuya? Police hears that woman screaming near MINAMI-SHINJUKU?

Deepstar, please consider reading rather than glancing at the first paragraph before posting. She was not heard screaming by the police. /end spoonfeed

Well it does say :

a street in Tokyo’s Shibuya Ward

. then goes on to report :

a woman was heard screaming near Minami-Shinjuku Station.

I don't live in Tokyo any more but I do believe Shibuya and Shinjuku are not that close together...

The wards kinda are... I mean... Its like 3-4 stops to shibuya from shinjuku on the fukutoshin line

The article is correct. Shibuya-ku is right next to Shinjuku-ku and Yoyogi/Minami-Shinjuku are in Shibuya-ku

Minami-Shinjuku is the first place I lived in when i first moved to Japan and I lived there for a number of years. You can walk from Minami-Shinjuku to Shibuya in around 20 minutes by foot and it is in Shibuya Ward. This attack should be the story we are concerned about here, not some petty argument about the exact area where it happened.

Oh, boy! Another whacko on the loose! I hope they can find this loon before he does it to someone else.

Minami-Shinjuku is in Shibuya Ward.

Watch your surroundings where you walk and the people around you. I see people crossing the street with such a sense of security that they do not even care to look right or left. I do consider myself a car stopper so I look 360 degrees when I cross a street. And when I walk I an wary of my environment.

I don't live in Tokyo any more but I do believe Shibuya and Shinjuku are not that close together...

The two wards share a border. Minami-Shinjuku is located south of that border and so is actually in Shibuya ward. Using your map software of choice, the station is at 35° 41′ 0.24″ N, 139° 41′ 54.6″ E

So sad that people are getting randomly attacked. I hope this case gets solved before anyone else is injured.

I make a point of always being aware of my surroundings, particularly when trains are about to pull up, while riding my bicycle or well near a traffic signal, year...once in public I look out for familiar faces in particular - they may VERY well be stalkers.

oh wow, a random attack or maybe someone she knew! only she would be able to say i think, however getting stabbed in the stomache several times and still alive from laying in a pool of her own blood, shes a survivor!

Or possibly someone you know. A friend even. Remember, just because your paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you.
