Woman tries to kill husband because he didn't give her White Day gift

Police in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture, on Monday arrested a 43-year-old woman on a charge of attempted murder after she tried to strangle her 31-year-old husband to death, claiming he didn't give her anything for White Day on Saturday.

According to police, the woman, identified as Mie Nishiyama, started to strangle her sleeping husband with a necktie at around 12:35 a.m. Monday, Sports Nippon reported. The man woke up and subdued his wife, before calling police.

Nishiyama, who manages a beauty salon, was quoted by police as saying she got mad at her husband because he didn't give her chocolates or any other gift on White Day, which is when men traditionally give gifts to women in return for chocolates they received on Valentine's day.

Police said Nishiyama told them she had been drinking alcohol before the incident and that she had no intent to kill her husband, who suffered only light injuries.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and speculate their marriage had other unresolved problems playing a role in this incident.

She sounds lovely not at all superficial ;o) My J wife and i have a nice arrangement that we don't do valentines/white day/birthdays or Christmas but save the cash for a winner of a anniversary.

I guess she won't be on his White Day list for next year then.

43 and her husband's 31? That's a bit creepy. And how could he ever go to sleep again while she's around?

-6 ( +9 / -15 )

i'd hate to see what would happen if he forgot her birthday. another helena bobbitt?

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Maybe he has gotten tired of being with an old lady. I guarantee she was more worried about that than just a gift.

I'm finding hard to contain my laughter!

0 ( +6 / -6 )

If every man in Japan who forgot White Day (accidentally or intentionally) was a potential murder victim the male population would plummet very quickly.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Proper education from elementary stage and vital social and ethical reforms are needed in the society to avoid above incidents.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

WOW! Imagine if he had forgotten her birthday O.o

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Maybe this man was thinking part of the attraction of an older partner was a more reasonable mindset without the silly tantrums and other childish nonsense.

True love comes from the heart not from bits of cards just on the 14th February once a year.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Get rid of her, crazy is a problem in Japan.

Disillusioned: "I'm finding hard to contain my laughter!"

Yeah, the reasoning is ridiculous. But if it helps you laugh a little less, imagine the responses if it were a man who tried to murder his 13 year younger wife because she wouldn't give him anything for Valentine's Day. I'm not singling out you, but there's a whole lot of people that wouldn't be telling jokes but instead screaming murder and saying "alcohol again" and what not.

No difference, really, save that this time it was a woman doing it to her husband.

My husband's 13 years older than me and my other one is 13 years younger, so according to a previous comment, that is the present and he is a lucky guy "bunking" with me. I will remember that next time he complains about my superficial shopping habits ;)

Smith - I think you have missed the entire humor of this incident. She admitted she wasn't trying to kill him and that she was drunk. But, the funniest thing is, her husband called the police on her to have her arrested for attempted murder. That's hilarious! I also like they way they used the word 'subdue' in the article. He probably would have done better if he just gave her a kiss and went in for a bit of 'slap and tickle', but he called the cops? I can't stop laughing!

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

He woke up? In all honestly Mie Nishiyama heart wasn't in it, clearly didn't make a determined attempt at asphyxiation, there a periphery of sharp or blunt kitchen utensils that could have accomplished the task........no chocs on white day?.....it a crime of passion, unplug the iron girl!!! ....

1 ( +1 / -0 )

It seems that because he is really sick and tired of her.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

That's not gonna look good on her resume

My husband's 13 years older than me and my other one is 13 years younger,

Other one?

16 ( +16 / -0 )

Wow, someone is taking their chocolate seriously!

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Autoasphyxiation gone a little awry?

the years do not always matter. One of the happiest couple I know married when he was 27 and she was 45.

and HE was the one that had to work hard to convince her to to marry him as he is 4 years older than her daughter. but when two people are a perfect match.

I was only a couple years older than my wife at about the same time and we lasted 3 years while they are going strong so it is quite possible age is not the issue.

many things can go wrong in a relationship. unless you know something about the people involved there is no telling what happened and even the reporters can only guess

Who taught women to expect something from men? Don't expect anything from men...anything! It will only make you feel miserable. If by chance your man gave you something on a "special" occasion, then your're super lucky. No no no.., love is not give and take. Love is give and give, because you love the person, right?

My wife and I have a real nice arrangement, I tell her she can spend whatever she wants whenever she wants and she stays happy! Only problem is that I need to build a new closet to house all her clothes, but I get to breathe and hang-out with my friends....

It's good to be a Conservative......

Woman tries to kill husband because he didn't give her White Day gift

That's a bit over the top now isn't it! This sounds like a case of Peee Em Es rage or there maybe more behind her rage than she has let on......

According to police, the woman, identified as Mie Nishiyama, started to strangle her sleeping husband with a necktie at around 12:35 a.m. Monday, Sports Nippon reported.

At least she didn't use a hammer or cutoff his One-eyed Willie.......This women really needs help....But, of course the PC left will claim she must have been a victim of her evil male partner!!!!

The man woke up and subdued his wife, before calling police.

Lucky guy, but I suspect that some will try and find a way to blame the guy for what his wife's attempt murder...

They may claim that he drove her to do this because she needed chocolate.......Murder defense because of lack of chocolate may work! Or maybe it won't!

I am just happy that the poor guy is alive and kicking......

On White Day, she was seeing red and he almost woke up dead.

I'd forgotten all about white day. The secretaries give me chocolates on Valentines day, which I pass on to my wife. She then buys something for them, which I pass on, but that was a couple of weeks ago. It would be better all round if nobody bought anything. My wife tells me not to bother buying overpriced chocolates, and I'm happy to oblige.

Something like this doesn't happen all of a sudden. She is either mentally ill, or the husband did something else to set her off. Either way, she needs to get some serious help.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

This is kinda sad...

Dakara . . . All you need is Valentines Day. White Day is a lame Japanese made-up sequel (& copied by the rest of Asia). This article just illustrates the point.

Kobe White Bar Owner - "My J wife and i have a nice arrangement that we don't do valentines/white day/birthdays or Christmas".

Naive. Buy her roses or a few chocs on Valentines Day. Expect nothing in return and watch the investment pay off.

I love the comments here. Especially the woman who admitted having 2 husbands? Still a bad new, but it will be for the best (for the husband).

JoeBigs: "The wife (culprit) was wrong and should pay for her crime, but if you leave it to the Liberals the victim (the husband) of this crime will become a culprit and the culprit will become the victim!"

You're bringing 'liberals' into this? Just to prove how stupid and asinine that idea is, and how much it undermines your argument, no one on this thread at all has been behind the woman on this (save jerseyboy's comment, which was uncharacteristic despite your very characteristic response to it, and possibly kwatt's depending on how you read it), and in fact in comments like my original you see it's no joke at all that this woman attempted to murder her husband.

"Insanity and Liberal justice..."

With comments like this, we know which part you belong to.

you turn the white day in to black one, you can not get love through force it comes through love. but you confused us all do you need love or chocolate?

If any wife faces such situation, give your husband another gift on the white day and tell him you forget I remember and win his heart

'Insanity and Liberal justice go hand in hand skipping down the road of insanity and taking civilization down the road of destruction!!!!!!'

White Day is an invention of the capitalists twirling their moustaches and cackling at the stupidity of the proles and their benighted sentimentality. Comrade Joe, we can put an end to this.

A box of chocolate or potentially being strangled <<<<< let me think on this one just for a moment, cheap skate he deserves to be strangled, he should have appreciated her more!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Yiipes!! Let me go to the store to buy my wife some chocolates.

"Headline should be, "ALLEGEDLY tries to kill husband..."

No actually, she admitted to trying to kill him so the headline is correct.

"Nishiyama told them she had been drinking alcohol before the incident" - article

'Have yourself a very angry White Day' . . . 'One Angry White Day coming up'

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The old "I was drunk so that's my excuse" routine. It doesn't work (rightly) for males anymore so she can't use that one. If she had no intent to kill him, then what was she doing?
