While I have always enjoyed listening to Dylan, I was quite surprised at one of the reasons why he won the Nobel for literature.
"Unique rock voice"......not something I had ever connected with to literature.

Yuburu may have stumbled into something. Onto. Climbed. Into. The people who write these statements for the Nobel Commitie may be science undergraduates and not grammar stars. Why not "Roll" voice? Is rock and roll a meager description of the variety of music it covers? I never though of Tom Waits as rock. Neil has his foot in the door. Joni....he built cities. Sinatra had a three CD Reprise release that if you cherry picked the best tunes, it was unbelievable. Even The Coffee Song is great. Neal Hefti arrangements. That guy practically was Capitol records. Great arrangers are now unknown to us. They still exist. Pick up Karl Zero's Music For Cabriolet's, and be amazed.

Dre....then the Nobel Committee should make a Nobel Prize for music I would say.

By "Unique rock voice" I think they were describing his words rather than his actual singing. The way an author is said to have a unique voice.
By "rock," yeah the term is overused and underdefined. I would use folk, country, popular and even jazz to describe Dylan before I would use rock. Anyway, genres mix so much now that such descriptions are usually meaningless.

I confess I haven't heard his other Sinatra recordings, but I think some major doctoring of his "grainy" voice is required.
