Becky and GReeeeN record theme song for Universal Studios Japan

Television personality Becky, 26, took the stage on Monday to promote the 10th anniversary of the opening of Universal Studios Japan in Osaka. The bubbly TV regular, who has been named the ambassador of USJ's 10th anniversary celebrations, performed the official theme song that is to accompany celebrations this year.

The track, which is named "Good lucky!!!!!", was written by and co-recorded with mystery band GReeeeN. It is to be released as a single on March 2 under the band name "Gukki," an amalgamation of the Japanese pronunciations of GReeeeN and Becky. The song will be played over loudspeakers throughout the park in the run-up to the commemoration day.

Becky is also set to kick off her live tour with a performance at USJ on April 3.

GReeeeN, whose identities are still unknown, as their faces have never been made public, said in a statement that they were happy to work with Becky.

Becky said, "I'm so pleased I could jump for joy. I'm happy just to be able to make music with those guys. Thank you so much!"

I concur, shes lovely. But I have to admit, the title for the song s@cks donkeypile

Gukky pretty much sums up how I feel about this...a mix of gross and yukki :P But seriously, there is just something about Becky that really grates on my nerves. Maybe the over emotional/acting bit. Hopefully I can get to USJ before this song is released.

They are celebrating USJ's 10th Anniversary in Tokyo...........why? It's in Osaka.

and will someone please get rid of Becky already.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

oh I see, the article is out of Tokyo............can someone still get rid of Becky though?

So Becky... who's half-British... helped choose the name "Good Lucky!"? And how unappealing is 'Gukki'? Why not 'Breen' or 'Grecky'?

Anyway, remind me to never set foot near the place until after this song ceases to play.

PLEASE....enough of Becky already....and yes, she is "GUCKY"! Blecch!!

I think I just developed diabetes. What is wrong with these people?

Why not Gekko or Aflac?

"The bubbly TV regular"

She's bubbly all right.

Is that supposed to be Snoopy on the right?

What's the odds that the video to this will feature Becky making the peace sign, head cocked to one side and one leg bent up behind her, grinning like a cutesy moron?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Dear God, I really cannot stand this woman. Really, I would pay good money to watch her walking into a glass door.

Moderator: Readers, there is no reason to insult Becky. It only reflects badly on yourself.

Hahaha. Nail on the head there, Ivan.

goddog: "Why not Gekko or Aflac?"

'Gekko', maybe, but their rational for 'Gukki' is that it's some combinatino of Greeeeeen! and Becky (don't ask me the logic there). I was thinking originally some Breaky might be nice, but then 'Greeeeen!' really isn't put in. What might some other names be?:

Greebecky! Begreeeeeen! Begreeeecky! Grabby! GuBeckereen! GreeeeenBecky!

man whats with all this hate for becky? ever since she debuted i always found her a friendly positive character and i think shes charming. and she was born and raised in japan so she is unable to speak any english despite her european looks.

Becky's Live Tour...wow...this will be the event of the year. I hope I can still get enough tickets for my family and friends.

@valentineshigh: I've seen her speak English on TV and few times and she isn't too bad. And she goes to visit her grandmother in the UK and speaks English with her, too. It's Wentz Eiji that can't speak a word of English. Even his blog is called "Eigo Shaberanaito".

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I heard her speak English but she didn't have an British accent.

Becky is cute and funny but she's different because she doesn't act so girly like all the other girls that I've ever seen in every J-program.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Is this a publicity announcement about Becky and Geeeeeeeks? or a warning about their non-stop j-pop at USJ?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"GReeeeN, whose identities are still unknown, as their faces have never been made public..."

Does that mean there'll be a big coming out concert someday? Of couse, since no one knows what they look like, producers can just substitute anyone they prefer.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

GReeeeN wont show their faces because they are real dentists. The whole identity block was started in med school and has been kept secret since then. Now that they actually practice in the real world, it may seem that we will never see their real identity until they retire.

It would help if you get out of your "alphabet" mode. Hint: Try writing your "Breen" or "Grecky" in katakana. (if you can)

I like that Becky! Everytime I see her on a magazine or where ever, I have to look at her for a good 30 seconds!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I like Becky! She has yet to stoop to the point of acting dumb and showing far more skin than necessary to get ahead in this industry. She actually seems to be intelligent and caring. May be the reason why some here despise her.

I think I must be thinking of somebody else. I try to...

valentines: "man whats with all this hate for becky? ever since she debuted i always found her a friendly positive character and i think shes charming. and she was born and raised in japan so she is unable to speak any english despite her european looks."

Wrong-o, chap! When she HONESTLY debuted, I mean before the crap of popularity, her introduction was literally, "I'm Becky. My Dad's English" in English. That was her introduction to the celebrity world. She can speak more English than you think, as has been demonstrated in interviews.

nigelboy: "It would help if you get out of your "alphabet" mode. Hint: Try writing your "Breen" or "Grecky" in katakana. (if you can)"

Damn! YOu get me every time! You're right, of course, when I use the Roman alphabet I should automatically switch to Japanese.... errr.... Katakana Romanization... errr... what should we call it, bro, when you not only fail to use your own language, but try to use loan words in their original language? :)

ZING! (ouch!)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

nigelboy: But let's have fun with it:

ベッキ +グリイイイイイイイイイン = グッキ

Oh wait... that's right... they both use the Roman alphabet and English names/words with their titles. Hmmm... why don't you ask Becky and GrREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN to explain the moronicy that is 'Gukki' instead of trying to justify it by pretending someone with a grasp of English knows less than they do? :

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Not particularly fond of her, just don't like her much but that is her public persona.

As for her posing in the nuddy or even swim-wear, pass on that. To me that is like asking Imoto Hunter to pose in a Bikini. ;)

Obviously she is making a fair buck from her performance. BTW, I always though she had some german blood in her and that her gran only moved to england later on.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Smith: Oh I say! Well played, sir. Make up meaningless words, squeak them through a rictus and make a cutesy pose and hey presto! Japanese culture we're under orders to respect. Pile o' bolleaux.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Since the intended target audience are not English speaking people, does it matter what your perceived "logic" of how the amalgamation should be? Let's use your example.

ベッキー+グリーーーン=ブリーーーン ベッキー+グリーーーン=グレッキー

Sorry bro. It don't work.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

nigelboy - precisely. If they are not English-speaking people, why give them gibberish and pretend it's English? There are only 2 e's in green, and the phrase "good lucky" is infantile nonsense. Becky, we are led to believe, has a fair command of English, yet she collaborated in this pidgin because it's kawaiiiiiiiii. Indefensible, and moronic.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Becky, as we are led to believe, has a fair command of English"

"it's ( Good lucky!!!! )... indefensible"

Hee hee!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If they are not English-speaking people, why give them gibberish and pretend it's English?

Why not? Is there a golden rule somewhere that all song titles has to be formatted correctly and spelled right? Could of sworn I've seen some song titles with characters like "Luv" (Love), "2" (to) or ".....z" (plural form) And these are coming from English speaking artists.

There are only 2 e's in green

Actually, if you read the wiki page for GReeeeN (if you can that is), it tells you where it came from, why there are 4 "e"s, and are printed in small characters.

The point that I want to make here is that again, the intentended target audience of this song is clueless about the English language as much as you and smith are clueless about the Japanese language.

Moderator: Please do not be impolite to other posters. It only makes you look ill-mannered.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

2 is not English but Arabic.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

nigelboy, I will thank you not to speculate on the level of my Japanese ability. Firstly because it is unconnected to the topic, secondly because it is an ad hominem attack, and thirdly because you are talking out of your ringpiece.

I think you also mean "could have" sworn, not "could of". If you're taking the moral high ground in terms of literacy, please try not to write like a subliterate.

Finally, there is no golden rule that all song titles have to be great works of literature, but it would be nice were Becky, just once, to be connected to something which did not insult the intelligence of a three-year-old-moron.

Moderator: Readers, that ends the sniping at each other.

Can Becky sing? She cries so much on the telly, it's hard to imagine her having time to make mewzack.

Oh well, that don't matter. Celebs ain't real people.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Can Becky sing?

No, she can't.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I thought her name was Becky!@#$ something?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

you people are guillible .... IF becky can't sing... then Beckii cruel must be "amazing"

she can't sing, she can't dance... and bite me if she could speak japanese....

I think becky can be better at singing then rebecca flint... and IDOL groups can't sing.... like AKB48....
