Doraemon 'Reborn' in new Pink Crown ad series featuring Jean Reno and Atsuko Maeda

Toyota has announced that 50 new Pink Crown cars will be delivered to showrooms around Japan and are expected to be attention-getters.

To promote the Pink Crown, Toyota has a fun advertising series based on Doraemon, the popular manga series. It has all of the characters, all grown-up 20 years later featuring Jean Reno as “Doraemon” and recently graduated AKB48 singer Atsuko Maeda as Jaiko.

The latest version of its flagship Crown nameplate was unveiled by Toyota at the end of last year and will be available commercially at the end of this year.

The downsized and hybrid version of the car made a huge splash at its unveiling because of its vivid pink version, dubbed the Pink Crown. The company hopes that it will attract more female customers to the model.

dubbed the Pink Crown. The company hopes that it will attract more female customers to the model

If Toyota announced they were introducing a pink car in the U.S. in the hopes of attracting more female customers, they would be the laughing stock of the business world, and every news program in the country would be asking how they could be that out of touch with society. In Japan, no problem. LOL.

I really love Jean Reno in these commercials.

I owned Crown three times until the recent Crown Zero Athlete and is one of the best sedans I've ever drove! But when I saw this pink crown on TV for first time it really made me puke.....Toyota Crown is history and is as much as long in market as is the Toyota company itself. How can Toyota manage themselves to crush the long and old image for this mighty car....unbelieveable

aside from the "graduated" akb singer, the CMs are pretty funny. and reno as doraemon is crazy funny.

face it. Atsuko is popular and draws attention, so she is a good choice for ads.

I'm assuming you can still buy a normal Crown with a petrol engine? The word version implies that this is just one car in the new range.

Pink cars are popular with women in the UK too... one of my workmates about 10 years ago had her yellow Beetle painted pink. Yes... she was blonde, lol.

Don't get me wrong I'm a woman and I do like Japanese cars, but I would never buy a pink car....

Jean Reno is funny though

This worked well, they should try a full movie with Reno as doraemon , I dont know much about akb48 but Atsuko would make a great bond girl ..

Atsuko and Jean Reno are a killer combination. Pink Crown less appealing.
