This article forgets to mention that the Star Wars: Rebels Season 3 trailer stole the show, and was by far the highlight of the whole event.

If they don't jump ahead, what will be the purpose of the famous opening credits? No exposition will be needed.

Alden Erhenreich stood out in the recent Cohen brothers film, Hail Caesar. He's loaded with brains and has a lot of skills and personality. We'll undoubtably see him again before the Hans Solo spinoff arrives.

Oh that is a really good point.

Perhaps they will use it to fill us in on some background stuff that was going on towards the end of Episode VII that we didn`t see, like maybe it actually took Rey a couple years to find Luke, so the final scene of her handing the lightsaber over to him actually took place long after the main action of the film and a lot of stuff happened elsewhere in the meantime.

Why Erhenreich was chosen for Solo role.

You know... the notion that "traditions has to be upgrade to present times" does not apply every time. This, at least for me, is one of those moments...

The gap between every SW episode gave way for the novels, comics and games to expand the universe... because of those gaps, characters like Greedo, Boba Fett, General Tarkin and Admiral Thrawn appeared. Also the relation and family members and the problems and details of the Empire, the Republic and the New Republic was explained....

Ep. VIII could become a great thing... but not giving the gap, feels like some magic is lost there...

Im not into the expanded universe stuff, but they could still do all that sort of stuff even without the gap though, no? Most of the minor characters arent onscreen most of the time anyway so presumably they are having adventures during that time even if there is no gap between the films. Like what was Boba Fett doing during the Battle of Hoth? Probably off doing something interesting.

Though I did like that line in Empire where Han says "that bounty hunter we ran into on Ort Mantel changed my mind", which kind of gives the audience a hint at what they had been up to since the end of Star Wars.

I still prefer Ford, but after reading this it makes me feel like their killed Ford's character to make a point?

Daniel Neagari: "Ep. VIII could become a great thing... but not giving the gap, feels like some magic is lost there..."

Although, like rainyday, I'm likewise not into ththe extended universe stuff (I WILL see Rogue One, though), we are in rare agreement. Well, "could be" needs to be added before lost, since I'm sure they'll do an awesome job either way.

The anticipated “Star Wars: Episode VIII” will pick up from the cliffhanger

Cliffhanger?

What cliffhanger?

It was all I could do to stay awake in the last one.

Star Wars ended with The Return of the Jedi. All the rest is pretty much childish commercial crap. Nothing to compare with the re-generation of Star Trek, wich really keep on getting better and better, with effects, but particularly real focus and events centered on carachters and their acting.

Episode VII's ending a cliffhanger? Hardly. (Although Luke was standing atop a cliff of sorts...) One might have thought that, when he heard the spacecraft coming in for a landing near the island, he would have at least turned around to watch the trail leading to the top of the hill, or perhaps have come down to greet the visitor(s). But no, he made Rey walk up that nasty hill.

At least the makers haven't forced yet another female lead on us. Then again, they had no choice in this situation.

I hate the Star Trek reboots. All sense of wonder, of the vastness of space and the mysteries of the universe, completely removed; it's just character drama in scifi makeup. I get why people like them, but they're not my cup of tea at all. I also didn't really like Star Wars VII - and all of the above were shot by JJ Abrams, so he obviously isn't my cup of tea! I'm glad Star Wars VIII is in different hands... I was also glad the next Trek was in different hands, until it turned out to be the Fast & Furious director which means I'm expecting it to be garbage.

I just want someone to say "younglings" again. Sod characters and stories. That was one of the greatest and funniest film quotes of all time. I honestly spat my beer out.
