Actress Hiroko Hatano, 33, who is six months pregnant, and Urawa Reds soccer player Keita Suzuki, 27, on Sunday held a lavish wedding reception at the Peninsula Hotel in Tokyo.

According to insiders, about 100 people were invited to the party and the two, who had already registered their marriage last August, held a wedding ceremony in the hotel chapel.

Hatano was married once before to actor Takashi Kashiwabara, 31, in 2004, but the couple divorced in 2006.

Day in day out....same news about the J celebrities. If such a case is so acceptable here in Japan, why don't JT publish such news about normal people too....:)

An under twenty athlete marrying an over 30 once divorced woman?

So she was married once before, is 6 months pregnant but sees nothing wrong with wearing a white wedding gown. To each his or her own I guess. But wouldn't something a little less auspicious be suitable.

hachmike66 -- you beat me to it. Obviously, there is no Miss Manners here, or the equivalent, to advise this fools on what is appropriate. But, since many weddings here are nothing but a show anyway, as the actual ceremony has no legal or religious significance, this should be no surprise. It's more like a big costume party -- so I guess they should wear what they want.

Probably she should wear red. Or even better white with a red filled circle.

she can wear red for her third wedding

The white wedding dress has nothing to do with purity or virginity. The Victorians started the 'tradition' of the white wedding dress out of pure ostentation; a visible sign that the bride's father was well-off enough to be able to pay out for an extravagant dress that would never be worn again.

If the lady wants to wear white, then why not? (In these permissive times I reckon a good 95% of brides aren't 'qualified' to wear white!)

Married in white, you have chosen all right. Married in green, ashamed to be seen. Married in red, you will wish yourself dead. Married in blue, you will always be true. Married in yellow, ashamed of your fellow. Married in black, you will wish yourself back. Married in pink, your spirits will sink.

White and blue stripes sounds like a good choice.

Cleo:

You are quite right. My idea was, that the event described above is not a wedding, but just a wedding reception. Then the color is of course not so important. The bride is obviously not a virgin and also was married before, so the white dress she is wearing on the picture is meaningless - it just expresses fashion. The idea of a red dot can be to show the connection to her country, or with some stretching of ideas (the bedding of a virgin after the wedding night), that she is not a virgin.

"Lavish wedding reception at the Peninsula Hotel"

A few blocks from where hundreds of hungry homeless are shivering in the cold. Incredible...

They will have nice wedding photographs to show the baby later. Why is all the negative focus on the bride's attire? She and husband can afford to entertain and to dress for "their day."
