I know her name, but have no idea who she is, even with photo. I used to think that I wasn't living under a rock somewhere, but now I'm not so sure.

Good for her! She is just attractive enough to be alluring, but not so very attractive (or skinny) to be unapproachable. She should get paid like the men do, especially for the next decade while she can play the most interesting parts for women.

Good to see a nice Kentuckian making some bank. Plus she doesn't take herself too serious.

@sourpuss - she has many different looks, so it is hard to recognize her. Call it range. She won an Academy Award too, so her success isn't only based on her appearance. She's got some chops.

Luvly Eyes.

But to have fame, one must have to hide.

I am not sure, but I would not say she is the "highest-paid." She might be the highest earning, but she works. A lot. I have not run the numbers, but someone can. And does this include residuals from past movies? Because she has a few franchises going... um... one would think.

I would love to see numbers on longer term careers. Nick Cage worked a lot also, since Fast Times at Ridgemont High but has wound up with very little to show for it. I wonder who has made the most from the fewest movies. Stallone maybe? Dustin Hoffman? Angelina Jolie?

Trivia. Right?

Stallone maybe? Dustin Hoffman? Angelina Jolie? actually its

1: Tom Cruise – $290 million from Mission: Impossible I, II, III and IV 2: Keanu Reeves – $262 million from The Matrix I, II and III 3: Johnny Depp – $185 million from Pirates of the Caribbean I, II, III and IV

Me too sourpuss, I had to see the pic in order to realize who she is. My wife definitely knows as she's acts in one of her favorite movies, which I like as well. The dancing one, can't remember the name though. lol

But whatever happened to Gimme More?

You're correct, the 'highest-earning' is more accurate. The numbers referred to are total income for the year.

Jennifer Lawrence is a girl on fire

Surely she is a grown woman.

I can honestly say I had never heard of this woman or seen her face before (unfortunately) coming across this article. Ahhhh, getting Hollywood out of one's life is a great feeling...

all the numbers in this article and in the comments below are just obscene. defies belief that acting/singing/whatever in entertainment earns these folks so much.

Obscene.....but I'd bet you'd change places in a heartbeat if you knew you were going to get paid that much coin.

Mmmm. Good stuff. Thanks for the serotonin in those responses.

I guess what I meant about Sly Stallone is "Who has made the most money in their career from the fewest movies?" That would be "highest paid--career" maybe?

So Tom Cruise? No way. He has made too many (good) movies over too long a time to qualify. Keanu? Very good call. He might have the prize. Johnny Depp? No. Too many movies all the way back to Gilbert Grape.

So this is a hard measure to Google. But I will stick with Stallone, Hoffman, and Jolie, who have not really made many movies, but are sitting on fortunes. Here is another, though: Oprah Winfrey. Basically only in the Color Purple, right? And maybe she does not count because she has so much NON-movie income. Tarantino for pretty much the same reason. John Wayne made a huge number of movies and did not earn much, but did well in real estate....

You know, and it is hard because some unknown actor will not bring in big bucks, but some veteran has been in so many movies that their average is brought down. So Keanu, Hoffman. Jolie, Marlon Brando (inflation adjusted, pun intended).

On another note, I have to disagree on general terms that these people don't earn it. More than almost any profession, I think they "earn it." Think about all the crummy CEOs out there running their companies and their employees into the ground and walking away with piles of money. I am all for "pay for performance," and it is pretty hard to fake being a good actor or other charisma or whatever. And even if I don't like their movies, somebody obviously does. And I am pretty sure I would not like Tom Cruise for all kinds of reasons, but there is no doubt that he has a very very good career in movies.
