papigiulio: Agreed. I still remember when MTV started off, more or less, and it was fun to sit and actually watch the channel for a few hours, see some great artistry and creativity. Now it is just crap, and you can tune in to your favourite artists through other means if you still watch music videos.

I grew up heavy into hip hop from the 80s and onward. Looking at the hip hop nominees, hip hop may officially be on its last leg. Kendrick Lamar may be one of the last true hip hop artists but even he gets into some corny singing sometimes. Fetty Wap is a singer and shouldn't be considered hip hop.

I don't know why there have to be so many entertainment awards shows anyway. What other industry feels the need to pat itself on the back in public repeatedly year after year after year? How insecure are you? Strange cult of celebrity, I guess.
