Why not just a completely new movie, same basic plot but have it try to stand on its own two legs?'

Personally when I see things like this it's a major turn off, and not at all because "omg women leads!??" - to me it feels like they're purposefully undermining "all female lead" credibility.

I see a movie studio hiring talented women and riding on an already successful franchise. It feels like a cheap cash grab and tells me as a movie-goer that the studio doesn't have the confidence to try this idea on it's own as an original series.

(Face palm)

More power to 'em if they can make it work.

I'll go one step further. It already will tank because it's not its own movie but a ripe off of the former movie which itself was a remake. Hollywood has no more ideas and now they think all female leads are going to help them. It's been an abject failure because it's no longer about making a movie just profiteering.

Can you say Ghost Busters? I agree with other posters that say there are no new ideas coming out of Hollywood. There are a lot of talented stars out there, new and old, they just never get a good script or movie idea out of fog bound Hollywood. It makes no difference whether the cast is female or male, the movie will fly if it is a good story and well acted.

"$215,400 million"

Something's wrong with that.

I'm glad it's a sequel and not a reboot. With the cast and writers I have no doubt they could do a good job if a reboot, but I just think it would be unnecessary and telling a new story would be better.

When will we see "Larry Croft: Tomb Raider" ?

How to create a movie that'll bomb... Take an older series of movies that have already run their course from popular to ordinary where the story is pretty much already well known, and then replace all the characters so there's even less reason so see it. Will Hollywood ever learn?

I agree with kaynide. Why not just a create a new movie with these actors and it let stand on the strength of its script, production and performances. Sure, it won't have the "Oceans" brand, but it also won't have the baggage.

when will we see Pretty woman done with a rent boy?

Wowwie-zowwie! After the all women Ghostbusters, too. Looking forward to the all LGBTQIA version! Oh, to live in this age of liberation! If we cross our fingers maybe Hollywood will come out with a version featuring NAMbLA actors. Yeee-haaa!

Maybe, and if the ticket sales make a big enough profit then that will be a smart move by the producers of the movies.

I ain't into chick-flicks, but Anne Hathaway was pretty darn good in "The Devil Wears Prada." And throwing Rihanna in there? Enough said, she prob can't act but she's hotter than hot.

What will the rating of the new "Ocean's 8" be? Don't you think it's time that other authorities rate new movies? After all, who will protect the public? "Black Lives Matter": here's an opportunity to make an impact that will "keep on" punching!

Bill Murphy, right on. Its high time the popular media transferred power to Black Lives Matter. Im tired of movie reviews and social commentary from whiteys perspective!

"This film has been approved for all audiences by Black Lives Matter". Wow! Parents of every race, sexual orientation, creed, body size, etc.: you will no longer have to wrestle about what is appropriate or not for your children. Let someone else take responsibility for you. More free time to actually read and absorb the BLM manifesto on line. Oh happy days!
