Either one doesn't matter to me. I'm happy flying with ANA!

neither...JAL should just die quietly

Yes, since Delta acquired Northwest Airlines, NWA was the largest non Japanese carrier serving Japan from flights to/from the US and other parts. AA only has a small number of flights into/out of Japan. So business wise, Delta/NWA could contribute more passengers via connections and codeshares and such then AA could.

Isn't JAL already partnered with American Airlines? They share the same flight numbers and such. Besides, as was mentioned above, "does it really matter"? and why should we care?

Cuz i got miles with delta and jal but not with AA Though if you dont care dont know why you bothered to post that you dont care.

Thai Airways, Singapore Airways, Cathay Pacific....any Asian airlines which still value the customers and care for them. No US airlines please.

Partnership will not save JAL. It should die and give up routes to airlines that provide good service and can make money.

Why would matter?

What are you talking about? This isn't a merger. This is about a partnership to deal with Japan-US traffic. The US partner would feed passengers into JAL asian network and JAL would deliver passengers to their US partner's network.

How would partnering with Thai Airways, Singapore Airways or Cathay Pacific help serve US destinations? Huh? How are they going to help JAL get to places like Memphis or Portland? What about the huge market originating from the US to Asia? What? People will fly US-->Singapore-->Japan-->Japan Domestic?. Yeah, right.

It seems like you're not too familiar with the concept of airline alliances.

Neither one as they both suck. There just isn't an American carrier worth a damn, so they really need to find a different way to survive.

And just how else do you expect them to serve the US and all the little towns scattered about the country? Hundreds of direct flights from Japan? Single flights from Japan with extensions that stop in hundreds of cities throughout the US?

This isn't about American or Delta taking over JAL. It's a partnership to link their respective markets and provide their customers with better worldwide intra-alliance flight options.

JAL and AA have had codeshare flights as far as I can remember.

I already paid for a JAL ticket coming up soon so as long as i don't lose my ticket i don't care who they partner with, just get it done! By the way does anyone know what happens to my ticket if JAL goes under?
