Two peas in a pod if you ask me ! But The Tweeter-in-Chief is dangerously dumb !

They are clones.

I'd say Trump by a long shot.

Whatever your view of NK you can't say they don't have a plan. Despite numerous sanctions and threats they have achieved their goal of becoming a nuclear state. Saying, without evidence the NK leader is mad (Trump is not so stable either BTW) is a mistake. Becoming a nuclear power against all odds is not the achievement of a fool.

Trump on the other hand seems to have no set policy on anything and even if he does it is subject to change whenever he watches cable TV.

If Trump could become as focused on his goals (once they are established) as NK have been who knows? Maybe even make America great again. Or better at least.

Well put, SimondB. The Kim regime might be horrible. It might be evil. It might violate international norms. That doesn't make it "mad" or unpredictable.

North Korea has been following a fairly consistent playbook ever since Bush Jr. gave it the excuse they needed to kick out international nuclear watchdogs with his "Axis of Evil" speech. I can't quite tell if people's insistence that their behavior represents insanity comes from a naive notion that everyone who does things differently from us must be insane or an ignorant unwillingness to closely follow the news regarding DPRK.

Meanwhile Trump reverses himself practically every other day. The only thing we can predict about him is that he won't do what he says he will do. The mods try to silence every time I mention this, but it really is relevant: Trump has not accomplished a single thing he said he would as President, most of his promises being guaranteed on "Day 1". That's a part of his unpredictability - he promises big and delivers small, if at all.

Trump is definitely more unpredictable. N. Korea is N. Korea - they'll rattle sabres and puff up their chests, and no one expects the to do any different.

Trump is all over the board though. He's not afraid to flip on things he's been saying for years, at the drop of a flop. The only thing we can really predict with accuracy about Trump is that he'll insult someone on Twitter if he doesn't like what they say.

North Korea take the cake on this issue, They just launched a missile and it blow up on launch pad, Now, it that had a war head on that missile they would started the war by mistake, So it North Korea who is more unpredictable.

That's not unpredictability, that's incompetence. It's predictable that N. Korea will make a scene of showing off missiles they've built.

StrangerlandAPR. 16, 2017 - 10:17AM JST That's not unpredictability, that's incompetence.

LOL, and if there's one thing that's fairly predictable in North Korean missile engineering, it's incompetence.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

both are predictable : dumb

2 ( +3 / -1 )

At international level it has to be Trump no question. He's a political novice (dare i say "Apprentice") with very limited knowledge and understanding of the world we live in. That's why he did a 180 on Syria a week ago and completely changed his mind on Assad.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

President Trump has enraged left-wing lunatics with smart but pragmatic policies on immigration and trade.

Kim Jong Un has assassinated political foes left and right, pushed the Korean Peninsula closer to nuclear war, exported arms to terrorist states and has imprisoned his people in forced labour camps.

But zichi, you want to complain about a non-story about riding in carraiges?

You're smarter than that.

Trump is much more unpredictable. Kim is very predictable.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

No doubt life in the US is better for most people than life in North Korea. That's less to do with the predictability of each country's respective leader than the fact that for almost 70 years the various Kim regimes have brutally oppressed dissent and dominated all aspects of the government. That 70 years is itself a form of predictability.

OTOH, Trump has been in office for a bit over 70 days (perhaps even less if you take out all the days he's spent playing golf or relaxing at Mar-a-lago). The 69 years and ~280 days of Americans living under not-Trump while North Koreans lived under the Kim dynasty (not to mention all the American history before that time) have enabled Americans to build up institutions of freedom (like independent courts, rule of law, freedom of expression, press, and movement, etc) that make life in the US much more enjoyable than life under the Kim regimes. That's another source of Trump's unpredictability - we can take for granted that the Kim regime will act a certain way (however horrible that way is), but Trump's dictatorial approach to leadership without quite having undermined all those institutions of freedom (despite his best efforts, mind) means you can never predict what Trump will do next. Maybe he'll push for a violation of American society's most sacred precepts, like violating the First Amendment with a concealed Muslim ban. Maybe he'll throw everyone out of a government department if they say things he dislikes, or maybe he'll completely change course the moment he faces the slightest push-back. You can never tell. That's what makes Trump more unpredictable than Kim.

In fact, it's weird to see you arguing this point when Trump openly promised unpredictability as one of his selling points during his campaign.

clamenzaAPR. 16, 2017 - 12:12PM JST katsu78 I stopped reading after this sentence and saved myself 30 seconds. Go join Strangerland in your theory that life there is sweeter.

Look, if it takes you 30 seconds to read 3 short paragraphs that's your own issue, but perhaps openly admitting you didn't bother to read posts you replied to can help you figure out why you're falsely claiming Strangerland and I think life in North Korea is "sweeter" when I've explicitly and Strangerland has implicitly said the exact opposite, in fact.

Perhaps one of these days you will respond to the things people here actually write instead of the imaginary things that only exist in your own head. Until that day, sadly, your trolling will continue to be a waste of everyone else's time, with the moderation's blessing.

zichi - completely irrelevant and as far as the debt goes, completely false.

In any case the numbers and your little golden carriage story have zero to do with the shameful question at hand

Moderator: Please lift the level of your comments which generally add nothing to the discussion.

A difficult question to answer but Trump will become more and more unhinged and unpredictable as his approval ratings go further around the U-bend due to his failures at home.

He'll be more than prepared to spill blood in this cause.

lol why is it a shameful question? Donald Trump is absolutely more unpredictable than Kim Jong Un. NK will always be belligerent, will always puff up their chest and then eventually fold. Trump on the other hand has no idea on policy. His opinions change whenever he gets a little insecure and needs his tummy rubbed. Absolutely comical how bent out of shape Donny's snowflakes get over this question.

Can anyone imagine the sheer horror and outrage if the same question were asked a year ago with Trump's name replaced by Obama?

Left wing heads would explode in indignation.

But anyway, more proof that the left wing has totally lost the plot and it only strengthens the support of Trump, Brexiteers, Le Pen and so on as the west take our culture back from the dead.

Can anyone imagine the sheer horror and outrage if the same question were asked a year ago with Trump's name replaced by Obama?

Who cares, what's that to do with Donald instability?

Left wing heads would explode in indignation.

Not unlike you here, no?

It may strengthen his support amongst rightwing snowflakes, but not the majority of Americans. That's why his approval rating is tanking.

"Can anyone imagine the sheer horror and outrage if the same question were asked a year ago with Trump's name replaced by Obama?

I think the right word is 'confusion', not 'indignation'. Obama, whatever your view of his politics, is a thoughtful and calm individual. Trump is not thoughtful. He's not calm. He throws tantrums. He has a thin skin. He shows every sign of being clueless about foreign affairs - this is a man who asked why the US didn't simply take Iraq's oil. He's petty. He likes to take revenge.

I think a very revealing insight into Obama's temperament was how he dealt with the rancid trash from hateful idiots claiming he wasn't a US citizen. Very classy and dignified.

Who in their right mind would compare these two people in terms of temperament?

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Who cares, what's that to do with Donald instability?

Ever hear the old joke; When did you stop cheating on your wife?

Not unlike you here, no?

I'm exposing hypocrisy. The snowflakes on the regressive left would demand to know my IP number so that they could call the thought police on an unacceptable opinion.

It may strengthen his support amongst rightwing snowflakes, but not the majority of Americans. That's why his approval rating is tanking.

The left throwing around the term "snowflake" which is used to ridicule weak, left-wing cuckolds who need safe spaces and therapy dogs is actually funny!

And PRESIDENT Trump doesn't care about silly approval ratings like he didn't care about the MSM saying he had zero chance at the Presidency. He cares about getting the job done!

Donald Trump.

definitely Donny T.

"I think I have the best temperament or certainly one of the best temperaments of anybody that’s ever run for the office of president. Ever,"

Donald Trump.

Did he say this before or after he had a late night cat-fight on Twitter with a beauty queen and told people to check out a non-existent sex tape?

That's the kind of lucid, calm and informed temperament you want with the launch codes.

clamenzaAPR. 16, 2017 - 01:14PM JST Can anyone imagine the sheer horror and outrage if the same question were asked a year ago with Trump's name replaced by Obama?

Horror? Not likely. It would have been a ridiculous question because Obama was not infamous for his unpredictability.

You might as well speculation on how much horror and outrage their would have been if people routinely made fun of Obama's unconvincing blond wig or orange spray-tan.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

It would have been a ridiculous question because Obama was not infamous for his unpredictability.

Still pretending Obama didn't launch airstrikes or an ovethrow of the libyian government, or a ordered a coup in the Ukraine?

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

Readers, Obama is not relevant to this discussion.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Obama also unpredictably supported BLM while throwing police officers under the bus. Several police officers were murdered or wounded in the weeks after Furguson.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

By this time I believe we can surmise what each leader will do provided the situation stays much the same. What we know about Trump is that he is a loose canon, but only a loose canon that fires at people who cannot fight back: refugees, illegal aliens, Syrians, ordinary U.S. citizens who happen to be poor, LGBT people and so on. Kim is best at oppressing North Koreans. He has little if any outside influence. It may be that Trump will invade North Korea. This is probable not because Trump is supposedly unpredictable but because the U.S. has precedents of invaded countries it does not like. Much of the mess in the Middle East, for example, can be blamed not only on Bush, Jr.'s invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq but every U.S. President since WWII. So it is probable that Trump could take military action against North Korea.

Should such an invasion occur North Korea will not have much in the way of defense. I could happen that Kim, or whoever will take the helm, may fight the Americans guerrilla style. Provided there is anyone left alive on ground after the invasion.

Prediction is a shell game. I fear precedent more than so-called unpredictability.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Both extremely predictable.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Trump is predictable, because he is just a puppet of the Military Industrial Complex and the Deep State, and they are very predictable.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

America bad = thumbs up America good = thumbs down

Got it!

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

I trust neither. One worries more due to scale. Trump. He's taken weird random decisions already. He can strike anywhere in the world. The weapons work, that was sadly proven. Kim, He has been stubborn but 'logical'. He can strike inside his country (which is already too much). The weapons don't work.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I would say they are 2 cheeks of the same backside

0 ( +0 / -0 )

America bad = thumbs up America good = thumbs down

If that is something that's going to bother you, it's probably best to not ever leave America, as that way of thinking will be found to some degree in every country in the world. On the other hand, you'll find plenty of us who like Americans and American culture, even if we disagree with certain government policy.

Now that said, the question in this article isn't about America, it's about Trump and Kim. So the thumbs up are not 'America bad' and the thumbs down aren't 'America bad'. The thumbs up and down are in regards to whether or not Trump is unpredictable. Neither Trump nor his unpredictability equate to all of America.

Decisions, decisions!

I wouldn't worry much about Kim Jong Un. I would blame the global news media for making a devil out of this guy.

Trump...mmm...Zero political background but still president of US! This is enough to set my expectations right with this guy.

What follows is just entertainment in global news media and a lifetime opportunity for other nations to close in the GAP with US, simple.

They are both similarly insane, but in this case stupidity is the more dangerous! The North Korean Kim Klan just wants to make it tough for anyone to annilihate them easily. They really can't attack anyone! Trump! After his little "Cake" speech! I am pretty scared of that one. Got a a kick out of how he could use his power to bomb....ie Kill a lot of people in some country he can't even remember, nor why they would or should bomb them. But it was pretty clear in that interview that he is HIGH on his power trip!!! That is darn scary!!!
