This article is mis-titled. These are not mind-altering drugs, they are prescription medications. I had a completely different expectation going into this article than what was actually contained, and in fact the article contents do not support the title.

There is a time and a place for mind-altering drugs, but for myself, life is too short to spend a lot of time in an alternate universe.

These are not mind-altering drugs, they are prescription medications.

The terms are not mutually exclusive. The article does talk about psychotropic drugs, which are terribly abused or overprescribed (which is just a way of saying abused with a doctor's consent).
