So what exactly is the study telling us in simple words?

That men who watch alot of porn are less intelligent.

They dont know if its because the porn makes their brain less intelligent, or that they are naturally less intelligent and therefore watch porn.

Too much sexually explicit contents will cause the males ED (Erectile dysfunctionality) as a natural consequence. People with sexual deprivation or starvation are more tend to porn and end up being addicted. Get a real life and enjoy much more than mere fantasy, problem solved.

When researchers are totally focuses on porn it raises my suspicions of their motives.

Not only do they need to include adolescents in their study, they also need to focus on people who watch zero porn and have no sex life at all. I bet grey matter volume won't be doing so good with them either.

Balance and moderation are the keys. And my bet is going to be that adolescents with balanced but not excessive sex lives, including porn use, will have the most grey matter of all.

There's no correlation between "intelligence" and grey matter volume. There is a correlation between short-term memory volume and grey matter volume.

More porn means better motivation. awesome!?

Just my personal opinion, but I suspect that people who watch excessive amounts of porn (specifically men) would seem to be less likely to treat women as human beings and companions and see them more as plain old sex objects for their pleasure.

I was young once and of course when you're in those wonderful teen~youthful adult mode you're really curious about what goes on between men and women in private. But some of the things I'd seen made me think, "Really!?! Why on earth would you do something like that to a woman! I would not put that there!!! Jeez, there is no love in this!"

For impressionable youth that have no experience they would be more likely to think that some of the crazy things in porn is the way they really should do to women should they get one. Sigh.

But this does not explain my failing eyesight.

It's quite simple to explain: if you use your brain only to think about one thing then it will stop using the rest. Men who watch large amounts of porn have obviously not much space for anything else.

When a person sees a naked body they find attractive, a whole lot of thought is lost, bottom line (goes for women, too). Doesn't need a stud of people who watch porn to be called a genius to figure that out, though I sure as hell wouldn't mind being paid to watch it in some study. haha.

Both men and women watch porn, like both have sexual fantasies. Now, I don't know where intelligence comes into line, but um, I know men that to my face say "I wouldn't dream of watching porn", then give me dirty looks...so I don't know whether to believe them or not.

Not sure but I know some women that say they want their uterus removed so they can stay in the game. Ummm I think instead, they should have had a lobotomy before puberty. I grow tired of the spew of stupidity that comes from them about wanting, needing sex. Even posting ridiculous statements on social media. But the fact is, when they open their mouths and garbage falls out, I loose all respect for them and delete them. There is a time and place for everything, but along with stupidity it just makes them ugly. What happened to having at least a bit of respect and class?

Our brains change constantly, so yes, I would expect the brains of serial porn watches to show some modifications. That is just common sense; to claim otherwise would be strange. Same applies of course also for the video game nerds who spend whole nights playing characters in online games, etc.

I watch porn regularly, maybe 1 hour or less per week. I do have a PhD in science and work in research, so I would say that porn is quite sharpening me up :) but I guess if you watch porn several hours every day, you may have some problems. as with anything else

I am curious what would be the results of a similar study regarding soap operas, Korean or Japanese or whatever dramas and all that stuff?

I personally think that porn limits your own creativity and cheapens the pleasure. I've watched very little porn in my life(by my own choice), but what little I saw was mostly repulsive. Totally twisted and degrading, IMO, to both men and women.

But, to each his own.

I find porn about as exciting as the endless shows on Japanese TV showing close-up shots of food and then of TV "talentos" showing that food in their mouth and explaining "oishiii". --- Totally boring.

I love both food and sex, but what is the point in watching other people have either? I don´t get it. But looking at the Huffpost study, I guess I am serious minority...

One time I lost the page I was on the browser and and when I went to History.... I saw all the stuff she'd been watching. AND IT WAS HER COMPUTER not mine. So there....
