And China decided not to say anything last year? hmmm....

I see you realize that the English press bends over backwards to keep you informed of every little in the world up to the minute. Too few have not near enough blind faith....

Yawn . . .

2 ( +3 / -1 )

come on china and japan ,time for some Hugs,,,,,,NO MORE WARS,time for the young people to take over

1 ( +3 / -3 )

Chinas not saying anything last year is only questionable because of their extreme anti-Japan position on every issue one can think of, and they most certainly would have brought up this incident to support their absurd argument that Japan is a "military threat". Looks more like tit-for-tat BS to me. 30M? well you guys came 10m!

6 ( +11 / -5 )

What China accused now seems to be too late and very doubtful unless any photo/footage.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

China's game of supersonic "pin the tail on the donkey." Air defense is a four-part mission; detection, identification, interception, and if necessary, destruction.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

If these two little "boys", Japan and China, weren't playing "war" with real ships and airplanes, this would all be completely laughable. Impossible to take either side seriously, since they both are acting and sounding so juvenile.

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

Japan is the only Asian nation that is widely seen as able to match China’s military abilities. Each escalation will result in more risk for China. If Japan gives China a nasty "black eye" and most important of all is "lost face" and Chinese goverment will have to answer to it's own people. There is a fear of losing face that is so great if China go to a military confrontation with Japan. What would Europe, U.S. and the international community think if China cannot contain Japan?

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

How about China and its neighbors come up with a plan to share the resources of the near-by seas and islets?

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Japan is acting strangely. Does it control the Senkakus with their undersea resources...or does it not?

If Japan is sure of its sovereignty over these islands, then Japan needs to act like the dominant and controlling force in this area, in fact, using the same techniques that China itself is using against the Philippines. What's that, you say?

Start digging for oil and start extracting natural gas from the Senkaku sea floor. If China responds by destroying the oil derricks, then China has engaged in war on Japan...and the United States is required to come to Japan's aid.

This is why Japan MUST keep the Philippines from blowing up the Chinese oil derricks, since they would then be starting a war with China and the US would not be obligated to come to the Philippines defense. The Chinese know this, and they are inciting the Filipinos to declare war on China by destroying the oil derricks in the Spratleys, thereby making it simply a bilateral war.

We want a war that engages the US against China, but we will not fight your wars for you. Get China to open hostilities, and then we will join with you in defeating the monstrous PRC>

Are you from the Middle Ages? The human world has gone so far from the Rule of Power. Use of military power to gain new tarritories is strictly prohibited now. The only one country that does not realize this is Peoples Republic of China.

1 ( +8 / -7 )

don't even have to start drilling. just start building a base on one of the islands. that should be enough.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Always tit for tat. China or Japan may not come to blows even if an accidental or purposeful incident between planes. Too much at stake for mostly China. A downed aircraft would just be more rhetoric and saber rattling.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

China again? When will be stop?

1 ( +4 / -3 )

They will sop when they claim the world

China accuses Japan of dangerous flying in air zone...

Says the nation that has a track record of doing the same, and more importantly, colliding with the foreign aircraft it's fighters harass.

The AFP outdoes itself in its prejudice manipulative anti-Japanese reporting yet again.

The Chinese ADIZ zone is one that China unilaterally established over Japanese territorial waters last year. Neither Japan nor the US recognize it. It has no grounds in international law.

The facts of the case were that it was the Chinese SU-27 fighters are equipped with missiles, aft that encourached Japanese territory and approach Japanese aircraft.

As usual Beijing inverts the truth as a cover to its aggressively expansive territorial claims.

Since at least December 13, 2012, the Chinese have been sending aircraft near the Senkakus. The plane I read about most is the Y-12 prop plane. On that day in December the Japanese send no less than 8 F-15 jet fighters. There was another reported incident on August 26 2013,

I know of another incident that happened on or around January 11, 2013. But I only got a brief about that one and from Voice of Russia of all outlets.

From April 2012 to March 2013, China claimed that Japan dispatched fighters 306 times in response to Chinese surveillance craft.

Considering that the press had no problem failing to report about the joint Chinese-Russian military drill that was taking place when the Chinese fighter buzzed the Japanese plane, I just don't trust the press. If a Japanese plane buzzed a Chinese plane I don't think they would tell us, or indeed, even be told by their usual sources, which is the military and government. If the Chinese told them, they would discount it.

Sure, maybe the Chinese lie, but by now, you should have figured out that they all lie. If the Japanese have dispatched so many jets in so many incidents, telling the Chinese to leave, its quite possible a buzzing did occur at least once. Just because the Chinese did not whine about it does not mean it did not happen. Why would the Chinese whine then anyway? For them its SOP, or so I have been told.

Beijing hit back Thursday at Tokyo’s claims of “dangerous” flying near disputed islands, accusing Japanese fighter jets of coming recklessly close to a Chinese aircraft last year.

Once again, China brings up the past to justify its actions. A bit late to complain now, don't you think China? Oh wait, thinking requires intellect. There is no justification for sending armed fighter jets into Japan's ADIZ and flying within 30 metres of a surveillance aircraft. China has a reputation for being aggressive, from sending armed jets into another country's ADIZ, to ramming (and subsequently sinking) Vietnamese boats. I don't think I need to tell anyone who the villain is here.

The January 2013 incident was when a Chinese warship locked its pre-firing radar on a Japanese destroyer

ASDF fighters have been scrambled in response to Chinese aircraft in Japanese airspace 415 times in 2013, up 109 from the previous year.

What is it worth for China?

China is engaging on a multi-billion dollar international PR campaign to damage Japan's standing in the world. Any that can be twisted or warped or provoke a negative response is open to exploitation. It's equally valuable internally to distract from dissent about the Communist Party to have Japan appear as an evil threatening force.

Having unilaterally expanded it territory to claim well established Japan territory, contrary to international law, China now seeks to push that boundary even further.

The January 2013 incident was when a Chinese warship locked its pre-firing radar on a Japanese destroyer

That was January 30. I was talking about January 11.

Having unilaterally expanded it territory to claim well established Japan territory,

Baloney.

China is doing these aggressive moves hoping for a fuse to be light via an accident to turn the heads of the hundreds of millions of young Chinese against Japan. The communist party knows they can start counting down their days when the creative, open-minded and smart young Chinese do a Tiananmen II spontaneously in time to come if there is no perceived external threat. The USA under Obama have smartly refrained from military responses like sending a carrier group to the Sea of Japan and are not taking the bait. So what can the communist leadership do to instill Han patriotism in the Chinese youths and distract them from their youthful pursuits of education, job, family, money & ultimately an uprising against the Chinese authorities? Yes, create an imagined external threat against Chinese sovereignty! The Philiipines & Vietnam are an additional insurance for other external threats in case Abe's Japan do not take the bait like the Americans. In all these Chinese shenanigans, Russia's Putin sees a great opportunity and is playing his poker game to get the world to believe President Xi is on his side. Both sides are in fact using each other for their own needs.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Now people here would know why the US was keep muted unusually on the incident when Abe’s admin was crying wolf after the daredevils of both sides played the mid -air intimacy routines.

The matter of fact is that American’s surveillance aircraft were never too far from those dangerous scenes; plus the back channel commination are open all the time.

China is not a saint that is given we knew that, but was Japan an innocent victim as it often claimed? Sometimes I suspect that crying victimization has been built in Japanese national psyche.

It just imaging how the state runs media can always manage to come up with some 'anecdotal evidences' to support China's aggression acts atm.

"oh, look here!, they did something even worst to us last year, but we forgot to report the incident !. Lol.. "

Talking about stretching beyond the credible limit... LOL.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

China just keeps playing the lying game.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

I should clearly rephrase.... Just imaging how the PRC state runs media can always manage to come up with some so called 'anecdotal evidences' to support China's aggression acts... Such a childish and laughable defensive behaviour from a supper power wanna be..

5 ( +7 / -2 )

I'll say this again especially as a Chinese person - regardless of what your opinion of Japanese actions may be, anything that comes out of "official" PRC outlets is as truthful as their garbage "inalienable sovereignty" statements. They make the most rabid of Rupert Murdoch's rags seem so ... clean in comparison.

The CCP has anti-Japanese racial hatred on a speed dial, they have been doing this for over 50 years.

You may or may not agree with what Japan does and I respect your view. But - I would strongly advise you to reject this repulsive Sinocentric drivel that comes from the CCP as it's little more than 1930s racial supremacy speech.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

China - respected by nobody.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Pinocchio still alive and kicking! Not too sure if this is a fair comparisons? May be not since Pinocchio is a likable character and PRC is not.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Ironically, on this issue only, it could well be the Chinese side that initially showed the more mature response. I've said it on the other article, but these are usual tactics (Chinese recce aircraft trying to shadow US carriers probably had received similar receptions) and there is no real reason to believe the Japanese did not do them. Obviously, they felt if the Japanese are complaining, gloves are off.

Tiananmen Anniversary Protest is coming up JUNE 4th. PRC Communist Party trying to divert attention, thousands of unarmed civilians during Tiananmen Protest run down by tanks ordered by the CCP.

Having unilaterally expanded it territory to claim well established Japan territory,

Baloney.

Really Mr G? Then tell me: Who approved China's ADIZ? The UN? No. NATO? No. ASEAN? No. No-one approved China's planned ADIZ. No-one even knew about it until China declared it. That is the definition of "Unilaterally". No-one had any say in the matter, China just imposed this ADIZ and imposed rules to be followed by all aircraft flying within the ADIZ. Both of these are outside the parameters of international protocol. Baloney you say? Read it and weep I say.
