A couple in their 80s died when their house was destroyed by a fire in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, on Sunday.

According to police, 15 fire engines were called to the fire at 4:20 a.m. Sunday, NTV reported. It took firefighters about three hours to extinguish the blaze but the two-story wooden home was completely destroyed.

The remains of two people were found on the second floor, police said, adding the victims were most likely residents Tatsuo Endo, 84, and his wife Tsuyako, 83.

Rest in peace those poor souls.

Do they still cremate the remains in cases like these. Rest in peace but they went together, kinda romantic. Not like Jack and Rose.

I always talk about fire safety and that we should do regular drills at home so we're always prepared for the worst. I always get the weird strange look from everyone like I'm talking like a fool or something. It's amazing even the closest to you can be extremely ignorant at times.

Terrible way to go for this elderly couple. RIP

So many elderly die in fires in Japan possibly because of not having smoke alarms or using heaters needing repair. Cities must send free inspectors on request to homes for inspection and to recommend safety items, etc. RIP
