Two female patients died in a fire that broke out in a hospital in Ureshino, Saga Prefecture, on Sunday night.

According to police, the fire department received a call from the hospital at 9 p.m., saying that a fire warning light was flickering.

Fuji TV reported that the fire broke out in the psychiatric ward on the 4th floor. It took firefighters about 90 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

Both of the victims were patients aged between 60-70 years old, police said.

Police began an investigation Monday morning to find out the cause of the fire.

No sprinklers? No supervision? what happened exactly?

Took 90 minutes to bring a fire in a hospital ward under control, must have been a fierce fire or no sprinklers as mentioned, perhaps safety was not up to standard.

That has to be a scary thing seeing a fire around you with no place to go and no one to help. RIP to the two victims.
