Will the United Nations Security Council condemned this launch as a disguised ballistic missile test? After all Japan does have a huge stockpile of fissile material, and the technology to turn it in to a bomb.

Japan needs to take on a more assertive role in terms of managing the protection of its sovereignty ----------- just like Britain, Russia, China, the US, the EU do . . ............................................. .It has been passive for too long, depending o n the USA military umbrella for protection.

if this news is all over the world, it is no more a spy satellite..

Do you think you could track it will all the junk that is already floating over our heads? NK probably knew about it before the newspapers here did I'll bet.

On the other hand it could just be a red herring.

I agree it is impossible to track these satellites, but questions like who is spying and what are they spying are answered by these news. I just feel it should be done more secretively. thats all...

Why would they spend so much just to launch a herring into space???

Not really a secret if you tell people.

Marcelito, exactly! Japan can do whatever it likes but when NK does the same, everyone flips out and the scaremongering begins. Evil NK is out to get Japan and yet... Japan turns around and does the EXACT same thing and expects everyone to be okay with it. Gander, goose...

Semperfi.

Japanese is not using us an umbrella. They are bound by a peace treaty that prevents they from having a full military force of their own. If anyone it's us preventing them from doing anything that would escalate any force.

North Korea is like that guy. Give him a little to drink and he thinks he's on top of the world but he's still 5 feet short when he wakes up in the morning.

NK: Ball's in your court.

Is the Japanese media going to call it a missile when it's launched into space?

Considering the failure of their fist 2 tests, I would say that: Next, North Korea will launch a spy satellite into Japan.

@tmarie, last time I checked, Japan isn't threatening the US and the rest of the developed world with Armageddon and nuclear winter.
