An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.6 struck the Kanto region at 7:41 a.m. Friday, jolting Kanagawa Prefecture and Tokyo, the Japan Meteorological Agency said, adding there was no danger of a tsunami.
The epicenter of the quake was about 30 kilometers deep in the eastern part of Kanagawa. It had an intensity of 4 in Kanagawa and Machida, a 3 in Tokyo's 23 wards and a 2 in Chiba, Saitama, Ibaraki, Shizuoka and Yamanashi prefectures.

Did anyone even notice?
nath
I did. More by the knocking of the mosquito net than movement.

mild booty shaking in Chiba here...I stood up and did the truffle shuffle while drinking my morning coffee

The thing I noticed most was that my train was on go-slow.

A jolt that lasted about a second.

4F in a 40 year-old mansion in Shinjuku had a 1 second jolt, but nothing major other than the sound of my POS balcony door shaking :-/

I felt it pretty heavy. It felt like something crashed against my old apartment 2 times. No after shakes though Oo

It wasn't that large of a quake so unless you were near the epicenter people would probably not notice it. At Sagamihara I felt two distinctive jolts, first was like if somebody suddenly struck you from the ground .
Hellokitty123
It was one of the largest I experienced in several years.

I was in an elevator in Machida at the time...Definitely noticed it! It juddered a few times then stopped at the next floor. Felt the rest of the shaking from there. Very surreal

Short and sharp. Not too bad except I was just getting out of bed, put my foot on the ground and the first thing I thought was I had better get the results from my recent health check.

Things are getting strange there in Japan. It was lucky that nobody was hurt.

I noticed it, it shook the bus I was on while we were stopped at the lights. Only one other person on the bus seemed to notice it though, no reaction from the others.

In northern part of Tokyo. I was woken up by the shake and thought only for a second it could be a big one but turned out to be nothing.

Woke up on it in Suginami (m3.8 here) , shaky walls but ok.. Nothing too scary

West Tokyo. It sounded like the epicentre was directly under and only under our shokki cabinet, which I was standing in front of at the time. Rattled like it was going to take off but nothing else moved (hanging lights etc.) at all. Weird.

Worst I can remember, and it wasn't very big either, was when living on the 7th floor of a building of similar vintage from the days when they still built pour concrete highrise (what were they thinking?) Middle of the night and the building shook for what seemed like an eternity. All I could think was how many times has this happened to this building and will this be the time it cracks apart with the rebar the only thing holding it together?

How long til you moved out?

A bit trapped as it was "company housing." Thankfully, there for only about 18-months.

I was working over a rehabilitated Superfund site for a while ... felt the same way ... they still had remediation equipment sucking up the vapors from the ground.
