Tokyo too? That's where my kids are ....

Just a gentle sway here in southern Tochigi. Hope everyone is OK.

Tall building swayed in Tokyo? How? I didn´t feel anything here.

I'm in an office building near Tokyo station. It was swaying here for a while. Not very strong though.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

I was on the 36th floor in Roppongi 1-Chome. A fairly strong rocking, like on the deck of a ship.

I was on 6th floor in Shibuya.

The building swayed enough to get some staff looking around but otherwise it barely registered.

Yes, we were swaying a long time here in Tokyo.

btw, if it was epicentre Tochigi why would there possibly be a tsunami warning. More like avalanche, no?

I was in Utsunomiya today but save for all the keitais' alarms, we didn't feel anything.

@AKB: Many might not immediately equate Tochigi to being where it is and instantly link earthquake with tsunami, especially those new here or the older amongst us, a clear statement that one has not been generated helps to untangle any possible fears.

Hardly felt anything in northern chiba. I got the alert on my phone though, which sent me into a mild panic!

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

All the phones sounded the alert in Kaihim Makuhari and there was that uneasy pause. A little swaying but no one was diving towards the exit/toilet.

Apparently my 'phone was "on strike"... didn't make a beep but the dog almost jumped out of his skin (Yokohama). There was one big thud but we didn't know if it would be followed by others...

I'm in Bando, 45km NW of tokyo and barely felt a thing. got the crap scared out of me by my phone though!

Didn't feel a thing here in Tokyo. Was walking at the time so that might be why...

I was in Kawasaki...about a hour from finishing work. Felt nothing!

In my part of Tokyo, not far from Shinjuku, well felt NOTHING!! And very, very happy that we felt zero, nada, zip, zilch!!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I was outside all day today, felt NOTHING, didn't even know there was a quake up in Tochi until just now.

Here in Gunma at my house we got the warning in the phone but nothing happened a few photo frames hanging on the wall slightly shook but that was all.....

Only about 30 klm from epicenter here felt nothing .... Powerful??? Not!!

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

I've got a bad feeling about this...

Well to anyone who was effected by the quake up there I pray that you are all safe and I am thankful you all are okay.

Well lets see, Tochigi Prefecture (栃木県, Tochigi-ken) is a prefecture located in the Kantō region. Nikkō is within that prefecture, approximately one hour by train from Tokyo. I felt it here in Akasaka, and I hoped it would not escalate, but I did scurry to locate my hard hat.....

On the 21st floor near Ginza we just got a gentle sway but I always find the potential for what it might turn into far worse than the actual swaying. The big one started off small and then suddenly ramped up. It's not knowing if it will happen again that I find unsettling every time.

Quite a number of aftershocks hit the area. I hope everyone is safe!!!

It's not knowing if it will happen again that I find unsettling every time.

Not "if" but only "when", and how much harder.
