A thin layer of snow was observed on the peak of Mt Fuji on Sunday morning, 16 days earlier than last year, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

The temperature at the summit was 2 degrees at around 3 a.m. Sunday morning, the agency said

The agency said heavy rain in the area on Saturday brought temperatures down below average for this time of year at the summit.

For this to be meaningful, it would help to list the "first snow" days on the summit over the past decade or so. Then, we could tell if there is a trend, or not. Even then, an isolated snow experience is "weather", not necessarily "climate".
