The U.S. military has informed the Japanese government that three of its Osprey aircraft will conduct low-altitude drills near the U.S. base at Iwakuni in Yamagata Prefecture, next week.
Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera told reporters that he had been informed by the U.S. side that the drill will take place on March 6-8, but added that he had not yet been told the exact route the aircraft will fly on their journey from Okinawa to Yamagata, Sankei Shimbun reported.
The drills will be the first to be conducted over Honshu since 12 of the controversial aircraft were deployed to the U.S. Marine Corps' air station at Futenma in Okinawa last summer amid strong protests from local residents and the Okinawan government.

Since NK made threats against Japan, nobody complains anymore. Typical.

HUH?! every day and every minute. just because you don't read it on JT doesn't mean it's still OK. speaking of the "devil" one flew really really close about 45 minutes ago, anyone living around barclay's court can testify to that. it was 12:45pm. my co-workers and i were looking out the window and we saw every one outside had their hands over their ears, it was just too loud.
don't matter. it will change without you knowing ::smile::
pretty soon, we'll have the locals from honshu joining the okinawans in the march.

I can understand not wanting the bases, in general, but why is such a disproportionate amount of attention being placed on the Osprey? I imagine fighter jets and other aircraft are quite loud as well.

The sky is falling, the sky is falling. No, just a military intelligence surveillance vehicle here to protect you, Chicken Little-san. What a waste of money for both countries.
