Ricoh Co Ltd has developed a 360-degree omnidirectional camera that can be continuously used for 24 hours for live-streaming.
The company exhibited a prototype of the camera, "Ricoh R Development Kit," at CES 2017 in Las Vegas. It plans to start shipment of the product in the spring.
The newly-developed camera realizes omnidirectional live-streaming with a resolution of 2k and a frame rate of 30fps by using Ricoh's omnidirectional video technologies. It performs the synthesis into the equirectangular projection format (standard format for omnidirectional video) in real time.
Video is output via an HDMI or USB port. Powered by an AC adapter, the camera can be continuously used for 24 hours. The camera is slim and light in weight and can record video data in a micro SD card.
Ricoh plans to ship the camera as a development kit in the aim of developing new applications, considering that 360-degree omnidirectional live-streaming is expected to be used for tele-existence and computer vision technologies in addition to entertainments.

This reminds me of the article I read about a young man in South Korea who did not like to eat alone. So, he set up his computer camera for a page that I can not remember the name of and folks would watch him eat and ask questions. He makes money this way as well. I think a good number of people go to his page.
