Awesome swim by Schooling - schooled the rest of the field that included Phelps, a half-body length victory in a short 100M race is huge, posting the 3rd-fastest time in history (the only 2 faster times are by Phelps). Phelps couldn't even get within a sec of his own fastest time, so the years has definitely caught up to him. 8 years ago, then 13-yr-old Schooling had a photo with Phelps when Phelps was in Singapore (they grow up so fast!):

And a 3-way tie for silver for the first time! Finally, rivals Le Clos and Cseh standing together with Phelps. (Le Clos also tied for silver in London 2012, so a 2nd straight silver tie for him!)

And Ledecky's victory was huge too - she won by almost 30 meters (the pool is only 50 meters long)! She could've done her taxes while waiting for the race to finish.

And Ervin won while beating Phelps in one record - when Phelps won, 31-yr-old Phelps became the oldest swimmer to win individual gold, but now that record belongs to 35-yr-old Ervin (and Phelps has no way of beating that unless he waits 4 long years for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics). Ervin last won individual gold as a 19-yr-old 16 long years ago! They grow up so fast.

Out-of-nowhere comeback by DiRado - unbeatable iron lady Hosszu lost when she looked up her head and thus bending her body to touch the wall, instead of keeping it straight. Too bad this is DiRado's first and last Olympics.

Very interesting rivalries in the pool.

So he is human, after all.

Very gracious of Phelps for swimming over to congratulate Schooling.

The 31-year-old Phelps still has a chance to leave Rio with 23 golds in his career.

Outstanding!

You can't win them all. I just love that the kid's name is "Schooling" and he schooled Phelps.
