with such an attitude, It is obvious Japan can not win 14 gold or 30 medals...

Kenzo Shirai used to be a student of mine at Kishine Koko near Shin-Yokohama station. Their gymnastics coach was the judge in the London Olympics in 2012, and his parents run a gym where he practiced. I hope he settles down and wins a medal.

I feel for these athletes, but once again the Yamato daimeshi, you must win gold at all costs for the glory of NIppon rears its head. If coaches and media realized that less pressure = more wins maybe the would have a better chance.

“We try to perform like the world championships,” Uchimura said. “But we know this is the Olympic Games and this makes us stressed out.”
Everyone's in the same boat, I'm afraid. The difference is some can deal with the pressure. Uchimura doesn't seem able to. Same thing happened in the last Olympics he appeared in (after the same promised golds). Just settle down and do your best. You are the favourite for a reason, so remember what that is.

Smith, he won the all-round individual gold in gymnastics at the London olymipcs. Not quite sure what you're talking about.
