Suspended reality is not a solution. The article claims the PLO wants a democratic controlled state with no religiously motivated politics and claims Israel is the country wanting a religously oppressed and pure, state? That is simply a flat out lie. Israel already is a democracy, with a lsrge portion of its elected government already arab. The PLO is a terror group and the only state they want is one just lije every otger islamic country, islamic rule, minorities as second class citizens, women subjugated and jews dead. That is reality not this insane article.

The real sokution woukd be to ignore these imaginary palestinians since there never was an srab palestine. Tge only palestine was a roman empire province if jrwish peopke ftom cebturies before islam existed. The arabs around israel created an imaginary peopke to use,as an excuse for war, a war they lost. The pawns known as paledtinians, shoukd just evolve to this century, stop bring biolent animals and simply join the rest of the, arabs in israel because it already is a democratically free country.

The US has insisted on the 'two state solution' being the only thing open for discussion for about as long as it realized that every other option would expose it as endorsing and supporting Apartheid. And, even there, it could only insist on the neverending discussions about the 'easy' issues (borders, degree of sovereignty) because the 'hard' issue, the Israeli regime's refusal to recognise the residency and voting rights of half the legal population of even 'Israel proper' (the borders Israel recognized in its application for UN membership) would also expose it as endorsing and supporting Apartheid. That has meant ignoring the very unworkability of the 'two state solution' as a means of achieving a lasting peace, or a means of ending the massive and deliberate human rights abuses (given that international law recognizes them as crimes against humanity, 'abuses' is a mild word for them) that the Israeli regime inflicts on its own people as well as the rest of the Palestinians, right from the start. And, for at least the past decade, ignoring that even the proponents of the 'two state solution' can't come up with a workable dividing line that doesn't, you guessed it, expose the US as endorsing and supporting Apartheid. If Trump, in his bumbling incompetency and ignorance has started a process that will see the end of the tragic farce that was/is the 'two state solution' he will have managed to do something good despite himself, because once the reunification of Palestine under either name is what is being talked about, even Fox News won't be able to ignore that the two choices are Apartheid, or equal rights for the entire legal population.
