That is one brave person!! My legs would be stiff frozen with fear!!

A very small safety harness compared to North American regulations. But it's no sweat working at heights, if you're comfortable with injury prevention methods and your own good sense to not look down if you suffer vertigo. Me, at those heights, I just want to strap into my hang-glider and say 'wings don't fail me now!'.

I always get the chills seeing photos like this.

You wouldn't get me up there on the inside, let along the outside! Isn't Tokyo Tower where they have that glass floor. No siree! Not for me! By the way, Trevor, fear of heights isn't vertigo, but acrophobia. FYI.

He used vertigo correctly.

If you're high up and look down, and you consequently feel giddy, that's "height vertigo", to distinguish it from other types of vertigo due to nerve problems or motion sickness.

"Acrophobia" refers to an irrational fear of heights; being 250m up outside a tower and feeling nervous is perfectly rational, and isn't acrophobia.

Correct! @TrevorPeace1 used vertigo correctly.

Great stuff, I was gonna right you need balls to do that sort of work, but it looks like a woman :)

Man or woman, safety rope or not, it takes a lot of guts to do that. I was at the top observation deck on Sky Tree when a gondola with two window washers worked just on the other side of the glass. Everybody gathered around to watch them. Wonder how much window washers get paid for such sky high work?

If ya guys are interested, Toronto's CN Tower offers an EdgeWalk attraction where ya get to walk outside at the top edge of the tower with just a harness:

http://www.citynews.ca/2011/05/09/dont-look-down-cn-tower-to-offer-edge-walk-attraction/

It may offer the best view in the city but it's not for the faint of heart: EdgeWalk, a new attraction at the CN Tower, allows you to step outside the world-famous landmark and go for an outdoor stroll -- 116 storeys above the ground.

Starting August 1, you can walk along the 1.5- metre-wide ledge along the tower's highest pod. The cost: $175.

Up to eight people can make the hands-free trip at the same time, supported by a harness and pulley attached to an overhead rail.

One of the best things about Tokyo Tower is the glass floor. I always stand on top of it and look straight down to the parking lot below. When I suddenly jump up and down, and you should see the look of horror in the eyes of the Japanese. It cracks me up every time I do that.

Shame on you, Vernie ! (^.^) !

I don't know about Japan but in NY the average salary is about $34,000.

Oh god... there goes my vertigo again. I can't even look at the photos I took from there... just as well the camera has the shaky hand setting O,o

This window cleaner is either extremely brave or mad. That's a terrifying photo.

If you think that is bad you should see pics from the top of the Burj Khalifa.

Sometimes it get very windy and cold at high altitude. He needs a seatbelt and shoulder harness to work up there. Very dangerous job. Maybe they should install lateral moving automatic windshield wipers on all windows.
